Are you looking for your first Hostel/ General Manager position in the hospitality industry?

Popular with outdoor enthusiasts, families and groups hiring out the property, YHA Youlgreave is located in the old village Co-Op building and is just a few minutes away from the town of Bakewell. We have 42 beds across 9 rooms, including dormitories and private rooms. We have a licensed bar and also provide breakfast, packed lunch and evening meals for our guests.

This hostel is a great starting block for any new Hostel Manager looking to propel their career in the near future. As it is quieter than other hostels in the winter months we do require a Hostel Manager that can be flexible and support busier properties during this time whilst over-seeing this smaller hostel and its exclusive hire use.  This is the perfect time to develop your skills though and we would like to see the Hostel Manager of this property be ready for a bigger challenge in 2-3 years time.

As the Hostel / General Manager, you’ll be responsible for effectively managing the site to achieve and exceed current KPI’s and customer satisfaction levels, whilst supporting other busier hostels to achieve these during winter.

As Hostel / General Manager you will:

  • Ensure excellent customer service is maintained at all times
  • Achieve 5 star standards of cleanliness
  • Drive sales opportunities and controlling Profit & Loss
  • Manage, develop and motivate all employees
  • Establish and maintain great relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Continually seek area for improvement to the overall products and service within the hostel
  • Proactively review and respond to customer feedback
  • Ensure the maintenance of the building remains at the highest possible standard

In order to be a great Hostel / General Manager we are looking for people who can:

  • Demonstrate previous management experience within the hospitality industry / hotel industry
  • Show previous experience of managing, developing and motivating others
  • Analyse monthly Profit and Loss Accounts to drive and increase performance
  • Demonstrate previous experience of managing and delivering a Food and Beverage function
  • Show a good understanding of YHAs culture and values
  • Put the customer at the heart of everything you do
