Payroll Advisor

Xercise4Less are recruiting for a Payroll Advisor to play a key part in our People team. Reporting to the Head of People, you will be accountable for the payroll process, ensuring that we collect all the correct information for our 700 employees spread across our Head Office and 52 clubs.

Our payroll process is currently under review so this is a great opportunity to further shape this process to make it truly fit for purpose. In addition, we are exploring new system options, so you need to keep an open mind and offer your expertise and knowledge in this area too.

We would like to get under the skin of our data, generating trends and insight that will support our strategic planning within the People Team. This will be a key part of this role, so previous experience working with a HR People system is really important.

You will be working in a standalone role within a wider HR Team of 5.

About you:

We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude who is eager to get stuck in to a challenging role. Experience in managing an end to end payroll process is essential ideally from multi-site business. A ‘Manager’ title is not important, just that you have managed the payroll process and have been accountable for its successful delivery.

You should have previous experience working with a HR system at a detailed level, ideally using this to pull and interpret valuable data. You should also have good excel skills and have a natural ability to pick up new systems.

You will also have a natural ability for building great relationships across the business as well as with third party stakeholders. You will work closely with the Senior Business Partner and our Leadership Team, making our data and information accessible and valuable.

We are in a growth and change period, so you’ll need to be comfortable with pace and change. The environment is busy but informal so it’s important that you enjoy being part of a team and you’re passionate about what we do.

You Will Have:

  • Experience in an in-house payroll role.
  • Stand-alone background.
  • Monthly payroll or weekly payroll with variable processing (bonus, commission, overtime)
  • Experience of reporting on the headlines, but also the detail.
  • A full understanding of PAYE and NI, statutory payments and deductions with a good level of knowledge of current legislation.
  • High standard of Microsoft Excel skills including use of pivot tables and complex formulae.

If this role excites you, we would love to hear from you.
