Training & Support

Training is a key factor behind every successful Business Partner.  We firmly believe it is essential that as a company we provide as much training and support as required. We offer courses to suit experienced Business Partners as well as those that have never run a pub or business before. The White Lion Training Centre, a former pub located next to the brewery, is the ideal venue and is able to offer training courses in comfortable and practical surroundings.

The Training Centre is accredited by the British Institute of Innkeeping - one of the major providers of training courses for the licensed trade.

The initial introduction to Wadworth for all new Business Partners is through our 'Welcome to Wadworth' course. This four day course provides essential information on running a business and a tenancy. The course covers all aspects of running a pub including Marketing, Financial Control, Employment Legislation and Cellar Management.

We include on the course a tour of the brewery showing how we brew the beer you will be selling. One of the highlights of the tour is meeting Monty and Max, our Shire Horses, who deliver beer every week to our pubs in Devizes.

'The Welcome to Wadworth' course gives the opportunity to meet brewery staff with whom you will have regular contact during your time as a Wadworth Business Partner .

Once in your pub the training continues through our  'Training in Excellence' scheme. This is a series of a day courses expanding on some of the topics discussed during 'Welcome to Wadworth'.

If you like the idea of running a pub but are not sure, we offer a 'Try before you Buy' scheme where you have the opportunity to see what is involved without committing yourself.

Once you have made up your mind that running a pub is for you but are nervous about your first few weeks, we will arrange for you to work with a 'Pub School' mentor, (who is a successful Business Partner) to give that valuable hands on experience before you move in which will help to alleviate some of those fears.
