Summary of Position

Providing support to the hair team ensuring the salon is prepared for business and maintaining cleanliness levels throughout the day. Assistance with stock and laundry. Greeting clients and performing backwash duties, ensuring excellent standards of customer service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Cleanliness of the salon including sweeping floors, magazine management, general tidiness, cleaning back wash and cleanliness and organization of trolleys
• Replenishing of stock including styling stations and backwash
• Assistance  with deliveries including receiving professional stock and cages and cleanliness of stock rooms, cupboards and storage areas
• Gown and towel management and assistance in the laundry as required
• Greeting clients and informing stylists of client arrivals
• Organizing, preparing and delivering refreshments and ensuring dirty glasses and crockery are promptly cleared and cleaned and cleaning of the kitchen area
• Backwash duties – shampooing, conditioning, rinsing, head massage, application and removal of treatments and masques, neutralising of perms as directed by the stylists; colour removal and toning of colours as directed by colour technicians
• Have a good knowledge of products and services offered
• Ensuring all products used are dispensed in line with guidelines and minimising wastage
• Be the forefront of Urban Retreat, happy to have a highly visible presence on the salon floor, delivering excellent levels of customer care to all clients

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

• Minimum 1 year of solid work experience at a hair salon
• Hard working, and passionate about the industry
• Able to work independently without close supervision
• Good command of written and spoken English, and good communication skills

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience in working at a luxury hair salon would be a huge bonus
• Conversant in any other languages would be a great advantage

Successful applicants need to be flexible to work five days out of seven including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
