Athetics Lead Coach - Abingdon

Academies of Sport offer elite sports coaching in cutting-edge skills and strategies to young sportsmen and women, aged 9-15yrs, during the school holidays. We are looking for inspiring, enthusiastic and qualified coaches to lead in the delivery of our 2 - 4 day athletics academies throughout the school holidays.

Responsibilities

Lead Athletics Coaches will be required to:

• Be responsible for ensuring the coaching programme is delivered to a high standard
• Manage a small team of coaches to help deliver energetic athletics sessions (track and field)
• Liaise with parents when dropping off and picking up athletes, providing feedback where appropriate
• Develop and progress coaching sessions for the various ages and abilities
• Provide challenging content in a safe learning environment
• Analyse performance and suggest areas of improvement
• Show energy, a positive attitude and enthusiasm
• Have excellent knowledge in all aspects of your sport (technical, tactical, physical and mental)

Requirements

• Ideally hold a minimum UKA Coach qualification or equivalent (minimum Level 2)
• Ideally experienced at national level, either competing or coaching
• Ideally first aid qualified
• Experience coaching younger athletes and dealing with parents
• Skilled to deliver excellent structured coaching sessions where all children are learning, developing, being stretched, challenged and having fun
• Excellent communication skills
• Approachable, patient, and above all, passionate about athletics!

• Dates: Work available in the school holidays: Half Terms, Easter and Summer
• Hours: 8:30 – 4:30pm
