Learning & Development Manager - London

REPORTS TO: EAM

Overall Summary:

  • To develop & implement a training strategy to build individual talent & team capability to fulfil business targets
  • To lead & motivate HODs and departmental trainers to provide consistently outstanding service to colleagues
  • To act as an ambassador of the hotel with guests, suppliers and Colleagues

Key responsibilities:

Training

  • Train and inspire team members to build a highly performing team and deliver targets.
  • To develop and deploy a training strategy & system across the hotel to build capability & enhance understanding & consistency of hotel standards & job requirements
  • Identify latest thinking & industry wide best practice in training processes & delivery to ensure excellence in all training, education & talent development
  • Develop hotel wide training strategy, philosophy & concept & plan
  • Conduct training needs analysis & develop a training matrix for all Hotel functions
  • Identify additional training needs for supervisory & management roles across the hotel
  • Design, develop & deliver specific training materials & learning media to fulfill needs
  • Plan, coordinate & schedule all training initiatives across the hotel
  • Maintain and generate monthly training records
  • Coordinate nominations for courses and ensure necessary administration is completed, such as promissory notes, purchase orders etc
  • Promote internal learning and development opportunities via notice boards, social media etc
  • Coordinate F&B training, including wine, bar, coffee etc
  • Coordinate supplier visits
  • Prepare, administer & monitor annual training budget
  • To create on-the-job training sessions for departments, using Forbes standards
  • Work with departmental trainers to deliver training
  • Support HODs in ensuring departmental standards are identified and SOPs in place
  • Facilitate and deliver regular company induction programme
  • Facilitate and deliver core training programmes, including ‘Stafford Hospitality’ training.
  • Work with HODs to ensure each team member has:
  • Company induction
  • 12 week induction programme, with 1,2, and 3 month probationary reviews
  • Annual appraisal
  • PDPs
  • Monthly job chats

People Development

  • Coordinate competition applications
  • Coordinate and monitor work placements
  • Coordinate and monitor apprenticeship programmes
  • Develop relations with schools, colleges and university’s to promote The Stafford employer brand
  • Mentor, train & coach team members

Misc

  • To monitor and maintain website pages related to L&D
  • Develop employee handbook
  • Develop relations with schools, colleges and university’s to promote The Stafford employer brand

Welfare

  • Coordinate employee recognition programme
  • Support senior management in developing company culture and ‘employer brand’, vision and values
  • Develop employee benefits programme
  • Coordinate relationships with organisations such as Springboard, Hospitality Action

CSR

  • Develop The Stafford’s CSR programme
  • Develop staff consultancy committee (SCC) with representation from each department and monthly meetings
