The Flour Pot Bakery is a family owned independent artisan bakery in Brighton & Hove, specialising in long fermented sourdough, yeasted breads and viennoiserie. We serve our own Flour Pot shops in the city and a growing wholesale customer base that appreciate the best quality hand-crafted products.

As the Night Manager and Lead Packer at Flour Pot Bakery, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate packaging of our freshly baked goods. You will lead a team of packers, overseeing the packaging process to maintain product integrity and meet the bakery's high standards. Alongside leading the packing you will also take responsibility of the security of the bakery during the shift, ensuring the bakery is safe and left in a clean and tidy manner. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced bakery environment.

Overview of the role

● When working on shift running the section to the highest possible standards as set out by the company Packing and Slicing Guides

● Leading by example at all times

● Overseeing the packing and slicing team at the bakery

● Training any new staff and overseeing any trial shifts when necessary. Report back to Head Baker / Assistant Head Baker your feedback

● Ensure the packing team are aware of their upcoming rotas and shift patterns

● Manage the team's holidays

● Communicate with the head baker / bakery manager any issues relating to equipment or staffing

● Responsibility for shifts being covered

● Oversee and manage the security of the building

Primary duties

● Packing all shop orders accurately and diligently

● Packing all bread products for all Flour Pot stores and wholesale customers

● Organising the area and bakery to ensure all tasks to be completed are done in the correct environment

● Understanding the Deputy rota system to ensure all rotas are added correctly and holidays and time off are managed

● Manage the team in a professional and respectful manner

● Ensure the bakery is left in a clean and tidy state when leaving as set out in cleaning schedules and close down checklists

● Ensure all breaks are taken in designated areas

● Ensure the bakery is locked up and lights out when leaving

This role is based on 5 shifts per week from 8pm - 3am (please note these hours may vary slightly depending on production)
