Outline of the role 

 

As a Head Chef you will be at the forefront of the Fiveways business leading a kitchen team to success through the means of being commercially driven, being passionate about delivering a varied and exciting menu and promoting a positive, engaging and driven atmosphere to be part of.

 

 

Your main areas of focus will be:

 

  • To help to build, lead and develop the kitchen team to the highest standards of excellence
  • To be responsible for the development, training and implementation of a varied, seasonal and exciting menu
  • To ensure consistency with delivery of the menu.
  • to develop our sandwich offering from the counter, using varied and seasonal ingredients.
  • To develop The Fiveways offering, including the day to day menu, the offerings of event catering, pizza offering at the weekends, and any other potential avenues that could be explored
  • To help source, onboard and develop any new employees for the kitchen
  • To ensure food safety standards are adhered to and maintained in the kitchen including in relation to hazard control, health and safety, and personal and production hygiene; and to keep up to date with latest guidelines
  • To select and use appropriate stock, with due consideration for health, safety and hygiene. In doing so, demonstrating awareness of pest infestation, damaged or faulty stock, and ‘Best before’, or ‘Use by’ dates and to rotate stock accordingly
  • To build a strong relationship between BOH and FOH teams to create a professional and respectful environment. Working closely with the General and Assistant Manager to create a united Fiveways Flour Pot team
  • To be responsible for all administrative tasks for the kitchen, including producing weekly rota’s, allergen information for the FOH team, all health, safety and hygiene paperwork, costings for menu

Primary duties and responsibilities

  • To work cooperatively with General Manager, Assistant Manager, CEO, COO, Head of Operations and Head of HR, Recruitment and Training to maintain and build on the professional and cultural standards of the Flour Pot
  • To treat every colleague with respect and civility at all times; and to maintain the Company’s zero tolerance of bullying and abuse amongst staff for whom the Head Chef is responsible.
  • To maintain the level of personal and professional development and competence required to carry out this role and notify the company immediately of any circumstance that affects this.
  • To lead and motivate the team and individuals and to help to provide or arrange the training required for them to carry out their roles competently
  • To maintain (and ensure all chefs maintain) a smart, clean appearance and wear any uniform/safety equipment as required or directed
  • To ensure consistency and quality of all items that are served from the kitchen
  • To follow all company compliance protocol, ensuring that the kitchen team always also follow these standards
