Name: Amy Gliddon

Job Title: Front of House Manager

When did you join the Company? December 2014

Explain your typical day-to-day at the club?

No day is the same at Castle Royle but it generally involves ensuring every member has a wonderful experience, whether they are using the gym, taking part in one of the group exercise classes, going for a swim or just using the club for a coffee and a natter with friends.

I would say 90% of my day is spent interacting with members, which can vary from face-to-face at the reception dealing with any queries members may have, over the phone dealing with existing members queries, and something that can't be avoided in customer service roles...complaint handling.

How do all team members contribute to a members overall experience?

Every team member is important to the members overall experience, right from the General Assistant's to the General Manager. Everyone's role is important and we try to make everyone understand this and feel valued, through communication between departments and cross-training so all staff can appreciate the importance of each other's role.

What are your biggest challenges?

Dealing with the members!  As lovely as they are, it can sometimes be hard to please everyone all the time – but you get there eventually!

What do you enjoy most about the job?

Seeing a smile on the members faces and hearing about their stories –  some gym related and some not but just getting to know them and their journey's.

What do you think are the most important skills needed to do your job?

Multi-tasking and being able to prioritise tasks!

What keeps the members coming back to the club?

I'd like to say it's a mixture of the staff and that the members get the benefits of the social aspect of the club, the fitness and general wellbeing all in one place, that has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

Name: Cherise Fuller

Job Title: Creche Assistant

When did you join the Company? April 2016

Explain your typical day-to-day at the club?

When I arrive at work I never know what to expect, everyday is different.  A day could range from caring for under 2s or over 2s or a mixture of both.  We plan our activities ahead and set up the night before.  We also have a fun timetable of themed events in the creche.  We aim to allow our children to play and experience as many different things as they can, Foam is a popular one and so is our “Cloud Dough” - a mix flour and oil - the children love a messy play session!

How do all team members contribute to a members overall experience?

Having worked in other departments in the club we are a great team, understand each others role and support each other when we can.  Being part of one team makes it a friendly, caring place to work and that’s what contributes to our members overall experience.

What are your biggest challenges?

When babies cry its not always easy to calm them down, especially when there's more than one of them!

What do you enjoy most about the job?

I enjoy interacting with the children, getting to know the different personaliites and their likes and dislikes.

What do you think are the most important skills needed to do your job?

Patience and allowing time to build relationships with the children and parents.

What keeps the members coming back to the club?

The children play a huge part in why their parents stay, sometimes children dont want to leave us and are known to cry when they are handed back to their parents!
