This team is a hub of channel specialists delivering highly customer-focused digital marketing initiatives and experiences on behalf of brand, campaign and business teams. It forms part of the wider Marketing function comprising communications, brand and content & conversation.

The Role Display & Programmatic Manager

The role is accountable for supporting the Display & Programmatic Lead running Display campaigns to support the Tesco business requirements. You will need to work with your peers to ensure that campaigns are highly customer focused and delivered accurately, on time and to budget. The strategy and approach will support requirements across brand and business teams, including both grocery and non-food.

We aim to deliver the most relevant communications to our customers at the most relevant times, joining up across platform and device to create cohesive and efficient customer journeys.

Cross functional working will be critical to success in the role, forming strong relationships with Customer, Product and Channel teams as well as key agency partners. Achieving the right balance to support the objectives of all three internal areas will require an open and collaborative approach.



Key responsibilities

  • Support the team lead with delivering the programmatic strategy
  • Take & Interrogate briefs to ensure they drive the best communications.
  • Make best use of data to support and target campaigns, delivering most relevant messages to customers
  • Produce brief responses that meets customer and business priorities
  • Manage the end-to-end campaign process to deliver a campaign on time, on target and to budget.
  • Setting KPIs against business objectives and briefs, and own delivery of results
  • Use analytic and measurement tools to be able to interrogate results and take actions
  • Share campaign feedback, communicate what worked and what did not work for future learning
  • Use results data and hypothesis testing to continually optimise campaigns and inform new plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through better process or automation


To succeed in this role youll ideally have experience of working in an online environment, with a strong focus on customer experience:

  • Customer focus is critical, we are aiming for a seamless and inspiring customer journey in everything we produce
  • Ideally either agency or client side marketing experience (however not compulsory with other relevant digital experience)
  • A quick learner, youll be comfortable with numbers and have excellent attention to detail, as well as the drive and enthusiasm to make this role your own.
  • Collaborative mind-set, working with many different teams to achieve results
  • Flexible in adapting to fast-changing priorities
  • Strong influencing ability
  • Comfortable working with and interpreting data, critical thinking and solving problems

  • Experience using web analytics tools is desirable
  • An understanding of other digital channels Affiliates, SEO, Display and social (again this isnt compulsory)
