Location: Tenterden, Swallows, Sheppey and Maidstone Leisure centres

Job Type: Full time, Part time and Casual 

Working Hours: Various hours required, between Monday to Sunday

Salary: £9.50 per hour + excellent benefits



Always wanted to be a lifeguard but not had the resources to get your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.


You should read on as we are recruiting for unqualified Lifeguards as we have full time, part time and casual roles available where you can be supported in achieving your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) worth £250, to be able work as a Lifeguard at our fantastic leisure centres in Kent.

As a Lifeguard you’ll be an important part of life here at the centre as you ensure that everyone can use the pool in safety and that they have access to everything they need to enjoy their visit. This will involve you providing customer care to people of all ages, supervising activities, maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the pool area, and ensuring the safe handling and set up of pool equipment. And of course, when needed – you’ll help to save lives.


Without you there can’t be any pool activity. But you won’t be working alone. Our leisure centre has a close knit and supportive team, all working towards providing an inclusive leisure hub for the entire community.

About you


No previous Lifeguarding experience required, this role is open to anybody who has the desire to be a lifeguard and can meet the minimum requirements in a swim test.



To pass the swim test you must be able to perform the following:

  • Swim 8 lengths (4 on front & 4 on back total 200 meters)
  • Tread water for 1 minute
  • Surface dive to the deepest part of the pool and retrieve object (deepest part 2.0 meters)
  • Swim 2 lengths (50 meters) in under 60 seconds
  • Climb out unassisted (not using steps).

The NPLQ course will take place from Monday 1st August until Saturday 6th August at Maidstone Leisure centre, so please make sure you can commit to these dates before applying.
