HEAD CHEF – The Ship, Parkgate, Wirral, Ch64 6SA
Full Time – 48 hours per week
Salary – OTE £42,800 per annum plus company benefits
The Ship is a bustling gastro pub with rooms that sits on the stunning parade at Parkgate, overlooking the RSPB nature reserve to the North Welsh coastline. Our regularly changing fresh menu with an emphasis on seafood, has successfully kept us on the map for a number of years. With a major upgrade and refurbishment currently underway, bringing with it the addition of a roof terrace, new dining area, and upgrade to the kitchen, we are currently seeking a talented and passionate HEAD CHEF to head up the engine of our business and move the food and menu on, to meet the demands from a refreshed and expanded pub.
We are looking for a HEAD CHEF with bags of enthusiasm, a passion for working with fresh local ingredients and a healthy helping of creativity to lead our kitchen. Fine dining, we are not, but quality well executed fresh food is very much what we’re about. Our food is fresh, hearty and interesting, with a menu that reflects the seasons & our location, which helps ensures sustainability and prevents our customers and kitchen team getting bored. This constantly evolving menu is a combination of well-loved classics and more interesting dishes taking influence from all over the world. This is where you’ll have a huge influence over the menu, very much putting your stamp on the menu, developing your own dishes and indulging your own passions.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic head chef looking for a progressive and challenging role who wants to further their career and help us to continue creating an exciting and bustling foodie venue for the Wirral and our coastal corner of Cheshire.
AS HEAD CHEF:
- Your primary focus will be designing and producing a consistent, high quality, freshly prepared daily menu.
- You will be expected to build relationships with local suppliers, sourcing and negotiating for, the best produce around.
- An essential and vital element of the job is kitchen management; hitting and maintaining margins & wage percentages consistently and ensuring all health and safety legislation is adhered to.
- You will lead and bring on a team of chefs, creating an enjoyable & professional environment for both the kitchen and front of house team.
- You need to be a team player and have a passion for working in the industry.
A genuine love of food, attention to detail, and experience of a busy high-volume kitchen at head chef or senior sous level is vital.
Salary would be £42,800 per annum OTE (£34,000 - £36,000 salary + £4,800 highly achievable bonus + Generous Tips) + employee benefits and company discounts
Stange and Co. pub group, is a family-run group of character pubs and inns on the Wirral and over the border in North and Mid Wales, that takes great pride in its pubs, teams, food offer and service. Whilst we plan to grow, this will be opportunity led and for the long term, we’re not striving to hit a number and sell out to private equity or a big plc. Due to our size you’ll very much be part of the family and not just a number, but thankfully we’re big enough to be able to offer the support needed in running busy popular pubs, should the need arise.
