Our employees work hard to deliver a high standard of service to all of our customers. Our package of benefits is designed to reward our employees for their efforts and to help us attract, motivate and retain the best people in the garden centre industry.

Pay – we regularly check our salaries against other similar retailers to make sure we are competitive. We review our employee’s basic pay annually.

Bonus – we offer a non-contractual annual bonus scheme to employees including new employees from the date they join the Company. New employees are eligible for a proportionate bonus, based on the number of full calendar months they work in the financial year.

Employee discount – 25% discount after three months service.

Pension (From February 2014) – We are all aware of how important it is to save for our retirement. We offer a Defined Contribution Pension Plan to new employees. If you pay into the plan and meet the government criteria, the company will too, and these contributions will be invested.

Paid holiday – in a full year holiday pay is 5.6 weeks, which includes 4 weeks holiday plus 8 bank holidays, rising to 6.2 weeks after two years service and 6.6 weeks after 5 years service.

Long service awards – The company acknowledges long service and commitment from our employees with a small token of appreciation and a long service badge.

Attendance – Our employees with 100% attendance for a financial year, are rewarded with Squire’s gift vouchers.

Bupa health cash plan – our employees have the opportunity to join the Bupa health cash plan scheme which includes different levels of cover to choose from. The Bupa plan helps with the cost of health treatment and services which include dental, optical, chiropody, reflexology and acupuncture.

Childcare voucher – We operate our scheme through Fair Care, where the employee can apply for childcare vouchers that are exempt from tax and NI which allows the employee to save money and put this towards their childcare costs.

Subsidised menu – We offer a reduced menu for all employees during their working hours which offer good food at reasonable prices.

Free parking – available to all employees in the designated parking areas on our sites.

Opportunity to purchase used Company cars (sold to the highest bidder).

Celebrations – Centres are given funding at Christmas to celebrate with colleagues. There are many occasions when we send flowers to our staff, such as retirements and births etc. We also like to thank our staff if we have had an exceptionally busy period or for working over and above their job role in various ways such as; with champagne, cakes, Easter eggs and roses.

Historic Royal Palaces – our employees have the opportunity to utilise the corporate membership cards to gain free access to the historic royal palaces.

Squire’s Greenhouse, Reward Gateway benefit scheme –  we offer an employee discount scheme available to our employee’s, saving them money on everyday purchases.

Made A Difference Scheme (M.A.D) – a reward scheme for team members who make a difference to our business through; outstanding customer service, over and above normal duties or initiatives that have grown / inspired the business.
