Maintenance Technician

Can you fix it!? We are looking for a proactive, positive individual to provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment for all customers, staff & visitors to our Holiday Inn, York.

Working part- time 24 hours per week, alongside the Maintenance Technician you will play a key part in ensuring basic maintenance and repair tasks are carried out, ensuring all work undertaken is safe and the hotel is constantly planning and working towards being risk free.

Position Purpose

  • You will perform basic maintenance and repair tasks and may assist contractors to ensure all work undertaken is safe and the hotel is constantly planning and working towards being risk free.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Understand personal responsibilities in relation to the Health & Safety at Work legislation and demonstrates a working knowledge of COSHH assessment applicable in own work area
  • Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks and may assist other skilled workers with HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing or general building/facility maintenance projects.
  • Take reasonable care of items of equipment used to carry out tasks, including general cleanliness and advising on faults and need for maintenance or replacement goods
  • To provide reactive and proactive support to the hotel 
  • Carry out PPMs in line with instructions from the general manager
  • Assisting with minor decorating/carpentry/painting work, as well as clearing gutters, moving furniture, changing light bulbs and other ad hoc tasks.

Person Specification

1. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management · Needs experience of H&S requirement including risk assessments and method statement
  •  Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised. You will be challenged by deadlines and enjoy working as team.
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly moving and handing techniques and experience of writing and carrying out coshh assessment

2. Proven Experience/Education Level

  •  Formal qualifications e.g. NEBOSHH, Electricians certificate, Health & Safety
