About us

Shropshire Community Leisure Limited  was formed as a company limited by guarantee and commenced the management of Whitchurch Swimming Centre, Market Drayton Swimming Pool, OswestryLeisure Centre, Shrewsbury Sports Village and The Quarry Swimming Pools on 1 August 2012.

Brian Taylor, Chair of Shropshire Community Leisure Limited, outlines his vision and the scope of the Trust:

Vision

Our vision is the creation and maintenance of a first class range of healthy leisure and recreational activities and facilities to serve all parts of the communities in the areas we serve.

Scope

We will work in partnership with the community and all relevant bodies including but not restricted to existing providers of relevant leisure and recreational activities, the Local and Parish Councils, County and Town Councils and potential funding partners

Neighbourhood Life

Neighbourhood Life is our approach to helping ‘more people, become more active, more often’.  The 3 key areas of Neighbourhood Life enable us to focus our services on improving health and wellbeing, establishing our centres as community hubs and providing opportunities to participate in a range of sports.

Health and Wellbeing
We help local neighbourhoods and communities to improve their wellbeing through access to programmes of support that help them become more active, more often and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Community
We want our leisure centres to be community hubs, where you can participate in a range of physical and social activities. In addition to getting people more active to benefit their health, and teaching important life skills such as swimming, we also provide many other activities, such as helping older people to remain active and to socialise, activities for young people that they are interested in and providing opportunities for families to have fun together.

Sports
We want to increase the opportunities for people to participate in a range of different sports. We work in partnership with National Governing Bodies to deliver programmes that make sport more accessible and fun for beginners or returners. We also work with local clubs to identify and develop local talent.

Can You Help Shape the Future of Leisure in Shropshire?

Can You Help Shape the Future of Leisure in Shropshire?

Shropshire Community Leisure Trust are Seeking New Trust Members; so if you have always wanted to have a say in the way that your sport and leisure services are provided, this is your chance.

Do you have strategic vision, good independent judgment, and the ability to think creatively, work as a team and motivate those around you?

If you do then you are the type of person we are looking for to help shape the future of leisure provision in Shropshire.

Shropshire Community Leisure Trust has responsibility for running and developing some of the Council’s leisure facilities in partnership with the Trust’s operating partner Serco Leisure.

The Trust is actively seeking people with the right skills and commitment to take on responsibility for overseeing the strategic direction of the Trust. This will involve setting policy to ensure that the aims and objectives of Shropshire Council and the Trust are achieved, also that the service provider, who has been appointed by the Trust, delivers a service that anticipates and meets the leisure needs of the communities within Shropshire.

An interest in sport and leisure is an advantage, as is a desire to see that sporting opportunities are provided for all members of the community both now and in the future.
