We are currently recruiting for a Cleaner to work 15 hours between the hours of 4pm-7pm at Sheppey Leisure Centre. The Cleaner’s role is to ensure that cleaning tasks are undertaken to the required standard in a safe manner throughout the facility.





Located in the town centre of Sheerness, the whole family can enjoy two swimming pools as well as giant pool inflatables, Water Walkez and soft play in the Adventure World. We also offer a state of the art fitness suite suitable for all abilities and styles of fitness training and a workout studio offering over 20 classes a week.





The principal duties of the cleaner are to:



  • Maintain a high standard of cleaning throughout the building at all times.

  • Provide a safe working environment whilst dealing with chemicals, ensuring that they are handled in accordance with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Assessments.

  • Ensure that cleaning tasks are carried out safely with due consideration to the public, visitors and other staff.  This includes utilising signage and ensuring equipment is stored safely. 

  • Ensure all cleaning schedules are followed and checklists are completed. 

  • Report problems relating to cleaning and areas not cleaned.

  • Maintain stock levels and advise the line manager when stocks are in need of replenishment.

  • Ensure that equipment is inspected prior to use and is used safely.

  • Ensure that personal protective equipment provided is used and kept in good condition. 

  • Report any defects found during cleaning operations via the Suggestion, Concern and Defect Process.  

  • Ensure all cleaning equipment is cleaned and returned to a secure store on completion of cleaning tasks. 

  • Maintain an understanding of the facility and activities carried out in order to advise customers accordingly.



Skills, Qualifications and Experience





The Cleaner will be a responsible individual, ideally with a good work record in a similar environment.  The Cleaner will be literate and have a basic education and/or work experience. Job training will be given to all new recruits.





The Cleaner will have similar work experience or be able to demonstrate capability in this area.





The Cleaner should be able to demonstrate skills commensurate with the position in:



  • Good communication skills

  • Health & safety awareness

  • Customer care awareness

  • Attention to detail
