Head of Marketing – Serco Leisure

Location: UK Flexible with frequent travel to Serco Leisure head office, Leicester. 2-3 days per week

Serco Leisure is offering an exciting opportunity to become our NEW Head of Marketing. Serco Leisure has an extensive leisure portfolio which such as the prestigious National Centres for Sport at Bisham Abbey and Lilleshall.

You will be the leader of the Serco Leisure marketing team, driving revenue growth by delivering refreshed integrated marketing strategies across B2C segments in line with the Serco Leisure Business Plan.

Position Essentials:

The successful Head of Marketing will provide key marketing advise to key business stakeholders within Serco Leisure and support business income management at regional and contract level. You will proactively support your regional marketing managers in the delivery and development of marketing strategies / campaigns and cultivating fresh marketing opportunities for the business.

Accountabilities of the Position:

  • Agree marketing plan with Leisure senior management team and operational managers, as required.
  • Ensure timely deployment, budget control and performance reporting for marketing activities across the business’ portfolio, (Leisure Centres, Gyms, National Sports Centres, Outdoor Facilities, Accommodation and Events Facilities and Bike Hire Schemes) to achieve outcomes as agreed with SMT and to meet Leisure Business Plan targets.
  • Liaise and collaborate with (primarily) the Commercial and Operations Directors to evolve marketing, service and product offers
  • Lead, manage and develop a team of marketing, digital and design professionals
  • Management of marketing budget, internal cross-charging mechanisms and suppliers
  • Oversight of creative development and protection of the More Leisure brand identity
  • Compliance with regulatory and Serco policy requirements
  • Lead and manage development of customer insights using quantitative and qualitative analysis, buyer behaviours, customer experience/s, customer beliefs and needs in order to optimise and inform marketing activities.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Experience of market and marketing research
  • Experience of developing audience insights, segmentation and customer personas
  • Demonstrable understanding of acquisition and retention strategies
  • Demonstrable understanding of using data and customer insights to develop compelling value propositions
  • Experience of the full range of marketing methodologies and channels
  • Experience of building a brand, branding strategy and visual identity development
  • Experience of internal and external stakeholder engagement and management
  • Ability to scope and deliver a marketing programme of campaigns as well as PR, market research, advertising, promotion, online, social media and e-marketing techniques.
  • Experience of tracking and quantifying value and tracking return on investment.
  • Evidence of successfully driving improved return on investment through projects, programmes or in a business-as-usual environment.
