Role Purpose:

To ensure the effective management and efficient service of the Catering Department within the Inner Temple over a 7-day per week operation.

To implement and manage procedures to ensure the successful smooth operation of all catering areas at the Inner Temple.

To be responsible for the planning and execution of an extensive range of internal and external events, whilst always acting within the departments budgetary and policy guidelines.

To oversee the members lunch service and to manage the team, to ensure only the highest standards are provided and maintained.


Overall Purpose:

To be detail driven and ensure that all food and beverage offerings are presented to the highest standard.

To implement and manage the rota for all front of house (FOH) team members, including the casual team and agency staff.

To manage the administration of the hours worked by the FOH team to ensure a smooth weekly payroll is carried out effectively and on time.

To identify areas of improvement and instigate practices to develop efficiency so that 5-star service standards are constantly achieved.


Key Responsibilities:

Work as part of a team and lead by example.

To consistently implement, monitor and review the practice of all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and requirements across the catering operation.

To plan and fully coordinate and run events, providing a comprehensive briefing to all team members involved in the delivery of the event or when running multiple events.

Provide a comprehensive and complete handover to the operations team should you not be in attendance for an assigned event.

To help co-ordinate the preparation of the function sheets on a weekly basis and circulate to all relevant parties.

To attend weekly function meetings and any other meetings necessary for the business needs.

To be confident in communications and interactions with all guests, clients and all departments within the Inner Temple.

To carry out client debriefs after each event, to improve the guest experience and to enhance and encourage repeat business.

To effectively deal with and manage any feedback, complaints, or clients requests, with the relevant department heads to ensure an amicable resolution.

To support and manage the training and development of the FOH team in line with company and venue standards, promoting best practice and seeking excellence.

To ensure that all legislative and Government guidelines are adhered to, including (but not exclusively) The Food Safety Act, Health and Safety at Work Act, the COSHH regulations, etc. within the roles of responsibility.

To be responsible for the final billing and invoicing of events and ensuring all internal report procedures are consistent and completed on time and a in line with internal policies.

To manage and co-ordinate the Inner Temples diary of internal events.

Assist with the organisation of personnel files, training, onboarding for all reporting team members.

To liaise with staffing agencies and negotiate standards and hourly rates acceptable to the venue and to oversee booking agency members in advance of an event to ensure staffing quotas are fulfilled.

To proactively utilise the event booking system.

To organise and host menu tastings and proactively up-sell where possible.

To conduct venue site visits with or in place of the Sales team as and when required.

To build client rapport and proactively develop accounts for future bookings.

To support the sales team by taking event enquiries, accommodation bookings and other administrative tasks whilst following Searcys guidelines.

To ensure in-house accounting policies are adhered to and checked and that revenue lines, budgets and targets are achieved.

To proactively sell the venue at exhibitions, summits or promotional events if requested to do so.

To attend all training and development courses as requested by Searcys and the Inner Temple.

To represent Searcys and Inner Temple in a professional manner at all times in your behaviour, appearance and knowledge.

To carry out any other reasonable duties as required by management.


Experience/skills required:

Experience managing events; minimum 100 guests for a lunch/dinner and minimum 150 guests for receptions.

Experience managing multiple events.

Proven track record of managing a FOH team in a catering environment.

Experience liaising with and managing staffing agencies and their team members.

Experience running weddings (desirable).

Valid Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.

Personal Licence (desirable).

Excellent computer skills and Microsoft Suite proficiency.

Experience in using a diary management system.

Drivers Licence (desirable).

Strong leadership skills.

Excellent communication skills, internally and externally.

Takes the initiative.

Excellent time management.

Supportive team player.

Demonstrate high level of organisation.

Excellent record keeping.

English Language - Native or bilingual proficiency.
