Apprenticeships at Searcys

Learning on the job, apprentice chefs will experience a range of culinary skills, build their knowledge of health and food safety, develop business skills as well as gain personal development to build the foundation of their long term careers. For existing staff we offer a range of opportunities for Chefs at all levels as well as managers and future managers. It is our intent to support our staff to develop their careers with us as well as gain external recognition – from Level 2 apprenticeships to degree level.

Kherunnisa, who works at one of our City clients, was initially attracted to the chef apprenticeship as she was interested in the varied nature of the work and thought this best suited her learning style. Her favourite things about working for Searcys are, “the team, who are really welcoming and helpful, that you learn something new every day and the responsibility she has been given.”

Onorcun joined Searcys at The Gherkin in October 2018 after leaving Hackney College and finding the apprenticeship online. Onorcun said that his favourite things about working at The Gherkin are “helping to prep for big upcoming events, the atmosphere in the kitchen due to the great people and having the chance to learn something new every day”.

Lucas enrolled in the apprentice chef position at Blenheim Palace. His favourite things about the Searcys chef apprenticeship are “the people I work with, the satisfaction of learning and gaining knowledge from very experienced chefs and being given opportunities to experience other Searcys venues”.

Calum is currently undertaking his Level 2 Commis Chef apprenticeship at The Treehouse restaurant at The Alnwick Garden. He was attracted to the variety of food served and opportunities for career progression whilst working for Searcys. Calum’s favourite cuisine is vegetarian dishes due to the creative possibilities.
