Marketing and Communications Assistant - Roehampton Club, London

  • Reporting to the Marketing and Membership Manager
  • Permanent contract – 40 hours per week
  • Salary £22,000 - £26,000 based on experience

Roehampton Club is London’s premier private members multi-sports club offering a wide range of facilities including golf, tennis, squash, padel tennis, croquet, Health Club with gym and indoor and outdoor pools, along with a full catering provision – all delivered to the highest standards. We also offer Members and their guests a programme of social events, sports competitions and coaching along with hosting external events, weddings, conferences and team building away days. Significant investment is being made to enhance the standards across the club with the goal of achieving excellence in all areas. The Club has around 5,000 Members (3,600 adults and 1,400 juniors) and needs to communicate effectively with all of them.

Job purpose

We are seeking to recruit a full-time Marketing and Communications Assistant to help deliver the Club’s existing marketing and membership strategy and to communicate with Members via a range of marketing tools – print (posters, flyers, brochures) and online via the Members’ website, regular email newsletters and some social media. An interest in design or some design experience would be useful as would experience of design software such as the Adobe Creative Suite and managing websites.  

The Marketing and Communications Assistant will also support the membership team with new Member enquiries and Club Tours.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with internal Member communications including:
  • design and circulation of weekly emails and fortnightly online newsletters
  • create and send internal and external promotional emails and mailings,
  • design posters and flyers for internal Member communications in line with the Club brand.
  • assist with the management of the Club brand, including photography and ensuring consistency in presentation
  • Keep marketing materials up to date in all areas of the Club and online
  • Assist with the writing, editing, proof reading and designing of all Club marketing and communication material
  • Work with the HR Manager on the monthly Staff Newsletter and other staff communications
  • Assist with the promotion of the Club’s social events calendar and Member-led events
  • Assist in the management of internal and external websites and their databases using several CMS systems
  • Help Members with Members’ website login queries
  • Maintain and develop the online presence of the Club; including event websites, Google Analytics and social media including: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn
  • Manage all Arts Group, Photo Club and Crèche communications and promotion
  • Assist with communications to new Members while in the application process
  • Help with potential Member enquiries via phone and email
  • Assist the membership team with Club Tours for potential Members

While full training will be given, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • With a good degree level or equivalent education, you must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally. You should be able to manage your time and resources effectively and efficiently.
  • A background in design and experience of working in a similar marketing environment
  • Creative and be able to deliver high impact visual executions
  • Sound knowledge of digital marketing techniques and tools including using CMS systems for websites and email campaigns, and the ability to quickly adapt to other systems
  • Excellent IT skills especially in the use of: Word, Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator and PowerPoint
  • Good knowledge of database management and CRM systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and reliability
