Supply Planner - Westbourne Grove, London

Reports To: Supply Chain Manager

Job Purpose:

The supply planner role will form part of the new supply chain team that will be required to manage the new centralised Supply Chain.

Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of the Supply Planner will be:

  • Consuming the future sales demand plan (forecast) and ensuring stock is supplied to meet that demand
  • DC availability
  • Store availability
  • Ensuring Purchase Orders are raised on time to meet the demand plan
  • Ensuring that replenishment parameters are set to drive the correct amount of stock into store
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure good inbound performance
  • Liaising with the DC to make sure any operational issues are addressed (e.g. poor presentation by suppliers / product being picked in the wrong unit of measure etc)

KPI’s:

Their specific KPI’s will be:

  • Supplier On Time In Full – did suppliers deliver what we need them to
  • In Store Availability – did we manage to maintain good availability in the store
  • Company Stock Holding – are we holding the correct amount of stock in the supply chain to support sales
  • Sales – are we achieving the sales targets we need to

Systems Used:

  • The Supply Planner will use the Replenishment module of TRS

Key Tasks:

  • Maintaining replenishment parameters in TRS replenishment module to drive high ISA and low inventory levels
  • Reviewing and approving purchase orders prior to them being sent to suppliers
  • Expediting purchase orders with suppliers where required / chasing overdue purchase orders in
  • Raising allocations to push stock into store ahead of sales (where forecast is not driving it in)
  • Liaising with store managers around availability issues / overstock issues that they may have
  • Managing supply in of new lines and the discontinuation of old lines to minimise mark down and wastage both in store and in DC.

Key Relationships:

  • Each Supply Planner will work alongside a Demand Planner for the same categories. They MUST be complimentary; the Demand Planner plans what sales we think we should be achieving  and the Supply Planner then has to ensure supply plans are in place to both receipt the stock into DC and into stores for sale.
  • Ideally the Supply Planner (and Demand Planner) will work alongside the respective buyers to form a “category cell”; Buyer / Demand Planner / Supply Planner.

Key Skills:

  • Highly numerate
  • Analytical
  • Curious about patterns / lack of patterns
  • Completer finishers
  • Commercial –need to be able to “negotiate” with suppliers to ensure Planet Organic gets the stock it requires. Also need to be able to “negotiate” with store managers about why they should / shouldn’t have more or less stock
  • Determined / dogged – this role is never finished. Supply professionals are resilient and can prioritise what is important at that point in time vs what can wait
  • Goods communicators in plain English to non Supply Chain professionals

Experience:

Ideally 3 -5 years in a similar supply planning role. Alternative job titles this person might have held would be:
