HR Manager - Camberley

We are Places Leisure, part of the Places for People Group; we are placemakers; our work impacts on the lives of people across the U.K. – providing homes to live in, communities to retire to, spaces to stay active, supported homes for independent living, and student accommodation. Our places work when they work for everyone.

How do we do all this? By surrounding ourselves with energetic people, customer focused people and supportive people. Our people live and breathe our SPIRIT values; we are the place for spirited people.

So, we want you to join us and the 12,000 other colleagues on our journey; colleagues who have helped us create places, maintain 195,000 homes, manage £4 billion of assets and teach 75,000 children to swim each week.

More about your role

Working directly for the Head of People (Leisure) you will work to ensure our managers and colleagues receive a first class HR service. Our people are based across a growing business of 130+ sites therefore this is achieved by setting the right frameworks for our managers to manage their teams, with the HR team on hand to advise and support where required. You will also help with a number of people projects from restructures, TUPE to launching new systems and processes that improve all aspects of our employee's journey, from recruitment, on boarding, health and wellbeing, learning, development and engagement.

More about you

To be successful in this role you will need to be CIPD qualified or equivalent. You should also have experience of working as an HRBP, or a generalist role that involves a large amount of ER advice. The leisure industry is a 7 day a week, very fast moving customer focused industry therefore it would be a distinct advantage if you had experience in leisure or a similar sector such as hospitality or retail.

Your ER knowledge must be up to date as, with such a large business, you are likely to be tested daily on matters as diverse as disciplinary, capability matters, sickness absence and investigations etc. As the Senior HRBP you will also need to make decisions on employment risk and weigh up legislative risk in a commercial context. Finally due to the contract nature of our business previous experience of TUPE (In and Out) would be advantageous

The benefits

Our ambition gives you all the challenge you could wish for and that's why we can offer you tangible and exciting career progression in a diverse and pioneering business.

Here people can flourish, thrive, better themselves and work in fantastic communities with inspirational colleagues and customers.

We know that there's always more we can do to make you smile, that's why we offer a comprehensive benefits package to help colleagues save money or make their lives a little bit easier; from a pension, generous holiday pay, training, sick pay, and free or discounted gym membership – to a wealth of extra perks including interest-free loans for colleagues, discounts and offers on thousands of retailers, restaurants and leisure outlets and much more.
