Candidate Required
Must have appropriate engineering qualifications and experience. Ideally experience of running and maintaining large scale automation systems as well as experience of leading a function within a mechanized environment.
Ideally candidates will have experience within both Ecommerce and Retail Distribution Centre environments & supply chain with a background in high volume retail logistics (in-house or 3PL)
Candidates must demonstrate a high level of commitment to previous roles, having taken ownership and ensuring excellence in service delivery.
A proven track record of successfully managing numerous contracts and contractors is essential (Engineering, Catering, Security, Recycling, Specialist Cleaning, MHE and many more). Financial acumen is key including knowledge of Capex / Operational budgets. Proven experience of being able to complete and own tender process for suppliers. Understanding of being able to produce business cases for any Capex required from the business.
Main Purpose of Job:
To build and lead a team of maintenance colleagues, to maximize plant and equipment availability and continuously improve reliability, so that the Company can deliver exceptional service to all its customers. To ensure the site remains legal and compliant with all relevant legislation and company policies.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Budget responsibility for the engineering and facilities function. Setting and managing budgets for all site contracts and for the maintenance team.
- Management of multiple third party contractors
- Ensure that all Company and statutory Health and Safety policies and guidelines are followed at all times.
- Ensure site plant and equipment is maintained to a high standard to minimise disruption and maximise availability.
- Ensure all plant and equipment is compliant with legal and statutory law.
- Ensure that high standards of housekeeping are maintained at all times.
- Ensure that site is maintained to a high standard.
- Develop the skills and qualifications of the team in line with the business requirement
Nature and Scope:
- Plan and manage the day to day requirements of own colleagues to meet demands, utilising the staff available in the areas that suit for that days requirements.
- Monitor all absence from work ensuring all RTW are completed and action taken where required.
- To ensure all accident and incident investigations are carried out and reports presented to the People Team and Health and Safety Manager in a timely manner.
- Able to carry out people processes up to and including Dismissal Stage, ensuring that all disciplinary procedures have been adhered to within the Company handbook.
- To promote a safe working environment for all employees and that all the staff are briefed on statutory regulations as well as company regulations relevant to Pets at Home.
- Prepare and present statistical and financial reports as necessary.
- Prepare and review site engineering and facilities budgets, to ensure they are realistic and achievable whilst also being challenging and demanding.
- Implement key performance indicators for engineering and related operational areas.
- Review costs and performance in all engineering and facilities related areas including contractor performance.
- Drive down engineering related costs by the process of continual measurement, review and challenge of existing practices, working methods and procedures.
- Review regularly the engineering standards of work and general appearance of MHE, plant and equipment and facilities generally.
- Protect site operations as far as possible by ensuring adequate maintenance procedures, support and contingency plans are in place to minimise the risk/effects of failure, of critical services, plant or equipment.
- Manage and control the procurement of consumables eg pallet wrap.
