Mikey Slade, General Manager

I started at the Red Lion in 2008 where I was employed as a food runner. Having worked my way up in that site learning all aspects of the bar and waiting on tables, I was offered the position of assistant manager in the 2nd site, The Three Horseshoes. Having moved around quite a few sites I now find myself 9 years later in my second General managers position back at the Red Lion where it all began!

Kedar Joshi, Head Chef

I was employed as head chef of The Crown a new site opening and my first head chef position. Four years later I haven't looked back! We have a fantastic team and very busy pub that keeps on growing year on year!

Frances Fox, Assistant Manager

I started off at The Onslow Arms about six years ago with little waitress experience, however they took me under their wing with a good training plan and pairing me with experienced waiters until I was ready to work on my own section. Realising I really enjoyed the job I decided to progress into management. Pearmain pubs introduced a ‘PAMOF’ scheme (potential assistant managers of the future) I showed my interest and quickly excelled in the scheme becoming an assistant manager of The Onslow Arms in one quick year. Today I am working as a manager at The Wheatsheaf in Esher."

Ion Minza, Chef

Ion is from Moldova and following five years in Milan working as a ‘bodyguard to the stars’ he moved to the UK. Ion joined us as a Kitchen Porter in 2015 when we first opened the Wheatsheaf, and at the time didn’t speak any English. Working hard to learn English and develop new skills, Ion was promoted to Chef de Partie within a year. Ion has helped out at the Old Plough, Three Horseshoes and Grantley Arms and introduced more than 10 new members of staff to the company. Following his promotion to Sous Chef earlier this year Ion is now thoroughly enjoying working as at our largest site, the Onslow Arms, where he loves the buzz of a busy service and in particular the people, who he says all work hard and make a great team. Working at Pearmain has given him the opportunity, support and encouragement to progress and through this Ion is achieving his goals – he admits it’s long hours but is a very satisfying career. Ion loves to travel and met his wife Mariana while on holiday in Paris; their daughter Sara was born October ’18
