Explorer / Ranger
Are you a keen outdoors person that has a passion for creating amazing memories by delivering nature and wood craft based activities to groups? Do you have experience leading groups of people? Parkdean Resort are delighted to be introducing a brand new product for 2018 called Outdoor ‘n' Explore with the aim of introducing our guests to the wonders of the outdoors through some self-led activities such as Nature Trails or completing the 51 Things To Do whilst Holidaying with Parkdean Resorts or Explorer led experiences such as shelter building, fire lighting, bird box making, bug hunts, bow and arrow making which will all take place in and around our own BASE CAMP but will also include beach exploration or guided park walks depending on the location.
Parkdean Resorts are delighted to be recruiting an Explorer / Ranger to be based at White Cross Bay Holiday Park in Windermere, with experience of delivering activities or lessons to groups of people and or with a passion for working with people in an outdoor environment.
Reporting to the Sports & Leisure Operations Manager you will also be responsible for creating amazing memories by delivering activities to Parkdean Resorts guests, ensure that all Nature Trail materials are in place and relevant, work with the park teams on nature and conservation projects.
As the pioneers of this exciting new initiative you will plan and shape the future of the Outdoor ‘n' Explore product into the future.
Your day to day tasks will involve the following:
* Ensuring operating areas are safe.
* Working on conservation projects.
* Conducting safety checks and repairs were and when required.
* Reviewing and making changes to working practices to ensure that they are safe, relevant and guest friendly.
* Developing operating areas to create more amazing memories such as bug hotels, woodland paths, wildlife interpretation boards and or signage, wild flower meadows.
* Learning and keep abreast of local history.
* Gaining knowledge on local species, flora and fauna.
* Updating and amend Risk Assessments to ensure they are relevant and appropriate.
* Liaising with representatives from organisations such as National Trust and the David Bellamy award scheme.
* Being involved with product development meetings.
The successful Candidates will:
* Have an outgoing, passionate and enthusiastic personality with a passion for delivering activities in an outdoor environment.
* Have the ability of being dynamic
* Be friendly and approachable.
* Holda keen interest in the outdoors and caring for the environment.
* Have the ability to communicate with people of all ages.
* Ideally have experience leading or facilitating groups of people particularly for the lead Explorer roles.
* Be prepared to work in all weather conditions.
* Have good verbal and written communication skills.
* Have the ability to work well with others within a team structure
