  • Job Type:                    Full Time/Permanent
  • Salary:                         £25,000 to £35,000 per annum

Park Holidays UK is one of the largest and most successful holiday park operators in the UK and has a huge scope to continue the success story in the coming years. We are recruiting a JavaScript Engineer to join our growing in-house digital development team, working on a variety of projects but particularly the development of our main e-commerce website.

This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking engineer to push the boundaries of how serverless technologies can be used in the world today, in a growing company to assist in developing your skills, along with a great opportunity to grow within the company and have a long-term career.

The role will require you to be self-motivated, take ownership of tasks and see them through, have a strong desire to constantly learn new skills, and be excited about the future and what is possible.

If you are a fan of all things JavaScript, enjoy working with some of the latest and have a solid understanding of building clean, modular, front-end applications using modern front-end technologies, then please get in touch.

The Role:

Responsibilities

  • Be involved in full SDLC including continuous integration and support
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions
  • Be proactive in creating and sharing new ideas about technical direction of the team
  • Work with internal teams, external vendors and colleagues
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other developers

What we need from you:

Essential

  • Comprehensive JavaScript developer
  • Understanding of Lambda functions and serverless frameworks
  • Understanding of GraphQL
  • Frontend development experience with JavaScript and React
  • Experience working in an agile environment with CI/CD

Desirable

  • Experience with Terraform
  • Experience with design systems
  • Familiarity with A/B testing techniques

The Tech:

We are in the process of redeveloping our website focusing on the latest technology, using React for the front-end coupled with our home-grown Design System, built on top of a federated Apollo GraphQL backend using microservice architecture. We don't expect you to have experience in everything we use, but we do require strong JavaScript fundamentals and a background with AWS/infrastructure.

The successful applicant will enjoy working in our new, purpose-built office on the outskirts of Bexhill with easy road access, free on-site parking, and a subsidised staff dining room.

Benefits

  • 20% friends and family discount on holidays booked with Park Holidays, this is subject to availability at time of booking.
  • Great staff referral scheme
  • 28 days holiday leave per annum (inc. bank holidays)
  • Progression Programme within the Company – Learning & development opportunities available with the potential to join the Company’s Skills Academy or Apprenticeship Development Programme.
