The role of the General Manager at the West End London Medical Centre is to ensure a genuinely exceptional client experience across the range of clinical services offered by Nuffield Health at the Medical Centre. The role holder must deliver against commercial and operational targets, with a mindset to overachieve rather than simply meet targets. The existing clinical services delivered at the Medical Centre include Health Assessments, Physiotherapy, GP services and Emotional Wellbeing services. The Centre has 20 consultation rooms with a team headcount of 25, however it is anticipated that the team will grow to a headcount of 35 over the next 12 months.

The General Manager will become the CQC registered manager of the site. Adherence to robust frameworks with regards to clinical governance, health and safety, professional standards and best practice, in line with the CQC guidelines is essential.

The Medical Centre is part of Nuffield Health's Central London campus, which encompasses the Nuffield Health St Bartholomew's Hospital as well as the Barbican Fitness & Wellbeing Centre. As General Manager of the Medical Centre you will work collaboratively with the management teams of these nearby facilities to deliver upon Nuffield Health's connected health and wellbeing propositions.

The General Manager will report into the Head of Medical Centres and will work closely with other key business functions such as Clinical Governance, HR, Finance, Resource Planning and the Contact Centre. With overall responsibility for the site performance, the General Manager will ensure that the daily operations of the services are managed seamlessly and that the focus of their clinical teams is on the delivery of unhurried, high quality clinical care, with a genuine desire to help resolve health issues and actively promote the principles of health and wellbeing.

About you

  • Previous experience of managing a clinic or wellbeing facility (primary care/outpatients/dental/gym/health club/beauty clinic)

  • Ideally, you will have previous experience of CQC site management and/or good understanding of CQC regulations

  • Strong knowledge of managing and reviewing financial performance data at site level

  • High level of interpersonal skills and personal drive

  • A confident and inspiring leader

  • Evidence of proficient influencing skills

  • Adept at handling patient concerns and complaints

  • Competent and confident IT user

  • Awareness of medical ethics and professional standards

  • Driven to establish excellent standards of clinical care in an integrated wellbeing setting

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Focus on customer journey efficiencies

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take on the CQC Registered Manager status for the Medical Centre

  • Reach and overachieve set commercial and operational targets

  • Lead, motivate and supervise staff - creating a team culture and professional working environment within the Medical Centre

  • Ensure a high standard of customer service at all times and work to facilitate the smooth day-to-day running of the services. This includes interacting with patients, clients and other stakeholders

  • Provide personnel management and lead on recruitment, induction, deployment, development, performance review, absence management, disciplinary and grievance procedures

  • Respond to patient feedback, concerns and complaints

  • Ensure all medical professionals comply with professional standards of practice and maintain professional registration where required

  • Be responsible for co-ordination and maintenance of equipment within the Medical Centre

  • Be responsible for integrated team meetings and the cascading of information relating to the Medical Centre and company announcements

  • Provide subject matter expert input into the mobilisation of new products and services

  • Work closely with the Head of Medical Centres to promote all of Nuffield Health's values

  • To produce accurate and timely management and financial reports
