Technical Assistant - The Spa at Beckenham

Salary: £19,000

Job TypePermanent, 40 hours per week, including weekends, evenings and early morning shifts as required.

We are looking for a technical assistant to provide technical support at the Spa Leisure Centre.  You may be required to work at other sites at times.   You will play a key part to ensure that effective and efficient routine, planned and reactive maintenance is undertaken to a high standard.  Your responsibilities will include:

  • First line response to maintenance issues and general maintenance in the centre including lock fittings, ladder height light bulb changes, minor repairs including door fittings, windows, bathroom fittings and fixtures

  • General upkeep of the building including updating decoration, undertaking building routine and planned maintenance tasks, including emergency repairs to ensure the site is safely maintained
  • Liaising with the General Manager regarding technical problems affecting the site, including regular updates regarding outstanding faults, ensuring that all relevant tests and records associated with statutory testing, PPM, defect reports and service reports are undertaken and maintained correctly
  • Monitoring of pool water, quality testing including weekly water balance index in accordance with the current swimming pool water treatment guidelines, recording and taking appropriate action.  Able to carry out the correct operation of the pumping, dosing and filtration plant

You need to have good practical skills with the ability to carry out minor repairs efficiently and neatly in a leisure or similar environment. You will be a team player with good organisation/time management skills and be able to achieve results without close supervision.  Good verbal, written and numeracy skills are also needed for this job role.  A Pool Plant Operator qualification is desirable but training will be provided for the right candidate.
