Business Analyst - Watford Support Centre

Majestic Wines are the largest wine specialist in the UK with over 200 stores, megastores in France & a significant online presence.

This transformation is brought to life by our talented team at the Support Centre, Watford, which houses all departments working behind the scenes such as Customer, IT, Transformation, Finance, Supply Chain & People.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible & competent Business Analyst who will play a big part in the management, delivery and analysis of important projects. Reporting into the Business Change Manager, the main aspect of this role is to assist the Transformation team and the Majestic Board of Directors in the prioritisation, management, reporting and delivery of all change initiatives affecting all arms of the Majestic Wine PLC, including: Retail, Commercial (on-trade), Lay & Wheeler & Naked Wine.  The successful candidate will be capable of being the sole analyst or part of a wider team, to deliver the book of change required by the business.

Key aspects of role include:

  • Contribute to or document user stories.
  • Contribute to training preparation and execution.
  • Participate in and contribute to project initiation and inception ceremonies.
  • Learn and apply soft skills, tools, and techniques to interact with users and elicit requirements.
  • Hold user interviews.
  • Facilitate requirements and UAT workshops.
  • Contributor to transformation roadmap.
  • Process re-engineering.
  • Liaise with developers to provide any further clarity to understand any further definition of requirements.
  • Contribute to training preparation and execution.
  • Manage and own the handover of new systems and/or features to first line support & facilitate the handover of new systems and/or features to first line support.
  • Create project plans and timelines in support of the delivery of the individual projects.
  • Raise and escalate any issues, risks and project concerns for evaluation.
  • Support post implementation reviews to track project benefits and evaluate outcomes.

Knowledge/Skills

  • A minimum of two years’ experience working as a Business Analyst with a sound understanding of the end to end Project lifecycle.
  • ​Analytically minded who enjoys being challenged & working out of their comfort zone.
  • Experience of working within a structured project management framework or within an organisation that has implemented lots of change initiatives.
  • Able to influence and develop true ‘partnership’ relationships quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to inspire confidence and build a reputation for professionalism, dependability and trustworthiness.
  • Comfortable working with key colleagues from several business functions as well as being adept at influencing and collaborating remotely with those that are based in other offices such as the development team who are based in Norwich.
  • Confident presentation and communication skills, able to gain immediate credibility at all levels.
  • Excellent personal presence and impact. Able to make a positive first impression and possessed of first class influencing and networking skills.
  • Empathetic and flexible in style – able to accommodate differing style and attitudes.
  • Self –reliant, independent and able to multi-task.
  • Whilst able to work on own initiative, also a good team player, with confidence in own abilities but sensitive of their impact on others.
