Would you like to work for Stockport’s Employer of the Year 2016 & Best Non-Profit Organisation 2015?

Are you passionate about working in a customer focused environment and delivering exceptional service?

If you answered YES to all the above questions, we would love to hear from you. At Life Leisure we have exciting opportunities for Lifeguards to join our award winning team!

Applicants should must demonstrate our Preferred Behaviours culture of being a Winner, Authentic, Together, Caring and Happy (W.A.T.C.H.).  A National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is essential for this post, however if do you not currently have the qualification we can support you to gain it.

Our Lifeguards are enthusiastic, responsible and hardworking individuals who supervise a wide variety of swimming sessions, maintain the centres’ high standards of cleanliness and assist with general day to day operations. For many of our team members this role has been a stepping stone towards a career in the leisure industry, going into other areas of the business and management roles over time. We recognise management roles are not everyone’s choice though and there are many other members of our lifeguard team have chosen lifeguarding as a 2nd career, a part time job after retirement or whilst raising a family, or even as a short term job between further education or travelling.

In addition to our highly-regarded Sentinel programme, other benefits you’ll receive through working for lifeLEISURE include:

  • Gym membership
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Extensive training opportunities
  • 6 weeks’ annual leave (rising to 7 after 5 years’ service)
  • Annual awards event

As mentioned above don’t worry if you don’t currently hold the NPLQ – it’s not a problem, but you will need to pass the course to be successful for this role. You must be a strong swimmer to take part in the lifeguard course, including being able to do the following:

  • Jump / dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
  • Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out unaided without ladder / steps and where the pool design permits

If you’re not sure whether you are a strong enough swimmer we can check your swimming ability, just let us know!
