About The Role

Role Purpose

The Digital Design Manager is responsible for managing a tactical in-house team of digital designers in the production of first class marketing materials for all online marketing channels for the Ladbrokes Coral brands. The Digital Design Manager’s role is an integral part of the Creative Studio team who alongside Editorial & Web Content managers must ensure their teams are skilled and resourced accordingly to support the demand and level of quality expected by the business. Predominately managing digital design work the Digital Design Manager must foster strong working relationships with Brand stakeholders in order to deliver market leading campaign ideation and effective design production.

The Digital Design Manager is part of the Studio team within the Creative department and reports into theDirector of Creative. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the effective management and delivery of all digital design activity on all online channels for all brands
  • Provide leadership and direction to the team cultivating a culture where continuous improvement is embraced
  • Provide development, coaching, objectives and goal setting, performance management and other people policies as required from time to time; ensure team is motivated, productive and fully compliant with all regulations, legislation
  • Schedule and delegate all digital design requests to the team ensuring briefing forms are adequately completed as per the agreed criteria, and ensuring high standards of work throughout all the team's deliverables, with all due dates are met and tasks prioritised in line with business requirements
  • Maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and establish good, effective communication levels required to provide effective design advice and guidance to clients.
  • Review and proof (Inc. sign off) all digital design deliverables to ensure all content is complying with Brand guidelines and regulatory frameworks including CAP
  • Track all digital design tasks through the workflow management system to ensure the smooth flow of work through design studio and client, ensuring a successful feedback & iteration process through to sign off
  • Effectively collaborate with the Creative Studio Manager & Production Team to plan and schedule resources based on availability & suitability for optimum production
  • Consulting and advising on all projects across the business where design input is required, and liaising with third parties when necessary to ensure all materials are executed to high quality and on brand
  • Work with Brand team to create and regularly update Brand Guidelines; ensure that all activity delivered is consistent with the Brand guidelines ensure stakeholders are up to date
  • Providing feedback and recommendations to assist the Director of Creative & Production Manager to obtain sign off from/for business
  • Working with research partners to plan approach, test and validate design solutions with customers to ensure the designs are fit for purpose
  • Implementing best practice Design methodology and process throughout the team to ensure the delivery of design consistency and customer centricity
  • Post-campaign assessments and quality checks of production output to ensure completed work is error-free and can be reused if necessary
  • Responsible for the upkeep and evolution of the visual elements of all brand communications
  • Maintain full awareness and understanding of appropriate legislation for relevant channels and ensure all activity is approved by Compliance and Legal team(s); ensure that all materials are consistent with Licence conditions and code(s) of practice; ensure all staff are trained and familiar with Responsible Gambling requirements and knowledge is consistently and effectively updated
  •  Proactively research industries, market trends and competitor reports to have a full understanding of competitors and other markets to be able to make suggestions for new ideas, technology and thought methods
Specialist Skills and Experience Required
  • Senior level of experience in managing design teams in a highly productionised environment
  • Strong stakeholder management experience
  • Previous experience of strategic planning and budget management
  • University-level education in design, media, art, or similar
  • Strong understanding of Brand guidelines & design principles for offline and online media
  • Ability to create simple, engaging web graphics
  • Strong communications skills (written, verbal and presentational)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and third party service providers
  • Previous track record of creating innovative digital experiences that yield an impressive ROI
  • Management and mentoring skills
