We have an exciting new opportunity for a Hotel leisure club manager to be part of an amazing team. We are in the process of many exciting changes here at Mercure Chester Abbots Well hotel and are looking for a manager to oversee our busy Fee Good health club on behalf of the hotel and its guests, local partnerships,  day users and members. 

As Leisure Club Manager you will oversee the entire leisure operation which Includes the gym, pool and spa area. The newly refurbished gym features Matrix cardio and resistance equipment, free weights and much more. The club has a swimming pool, kids pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room,and offers treatment at Secret Sanctuary Beauty Spa Chester. Open to guests and members.

We are looking for a leisure club manager who has an excellent understanding of sales, retention & club operations. The Ideal candidate will have at least one year’s experience within a 3/4 star hotel leisure club environment, and have an energetic personality and outstanding customer service. This role is a hands on role and you will be expected to lead from the front and ensure that the team are following all our brand standards. 

The ideal candidate will need to be able to carry out the following resposibilities:

  • design and promote activities to meet customer demand and generate revenue
  • advertise and promote the centre to increase usage, which may include commissioning and considering market research
  • maintain high levels of customer care, often with a particular focus on avoiding loss of existing users
  • prioritise target activities and user groups, especially in local authority centres
  • manage maintenance, repairs and cleaning
  • Ensure Cleaning schedules are adhered to and checked thoroughly to the highest levels
  • Ensure pool and spa testing is carried out with stringent checks and ensure the health and safety of all users. 
  • recruit, train and supervise staff, including managing staff rotas
  • carry out health and safety checks on the equipment and site
  • handle complaints and incidents, e.g. accidents, emergencies or theft
  • ensure own and staff members' first aid training, pool responder / lifeguarding and pool plant training is up to date
  • Provide guidance to fitness training in use of gym activities - often a good way of maintaining contact with customers
  • prepare and check budgets and generating income
  • cash-up and keep stock records
  • purchase equipment and supplies
  • by involved in hotel, its operations as this role is essential part of the hotel management team 
  • write monthly or weekly reports and prepare cash projections for centre owners or more senior management.
