About the Role

The purpose of this role is to deliver an exciting range of outdoor activities to a group of children or young people who are participating in a day or residential programme at our outdoor adventure centres. Our team members play a pivotal role in creating memories for life, from their engagement with our guests, through the outdoors. 

We are looking for team members with a great personality to share their passion for inspiring young people and a love of the outdoors. You will be working in a busy environment which requires consistency in customer service, patience, flexibility and the ability to work well under pressure, come rain or shine! 

Condover Hall is an imposing Elizabethan mansion situated on an 88 acre estate and is the flagship JCA activity centre providing thousands of children with over 40 unrivalled outdoor adventure experiences, for durations of a day or a full week.

What you will be doing

As an apprentice activity instructor you will be directly working with our children and accompanying adults leading and delivering a variety of daytime and evening activities, ranging from Archery and climbing to dancing the night away in the disco. When fully trained you will become a multi-skilled activity instructor and have the ability to understand the strengths, limitations & personalities of each guest, which in turn will help you to build trust & rapport; ultimately providing our guests with an unforgettable experience. 

A key part of the role is ensuring the safety and welfare of our guests by utilising high levels of knowledge and skills learnt on your comprehensive 3 week training course, whilst delivering all activities in accordance with the Activity Standards & Procedures and other company guidelines. 

As part of your job role you will be performing team & individual duties which will include being a mentor and point of contact for a group, ensuring they have consistency throughout their stay and that their needs are met. The preparation of all activity areas, ensuring activity equipment standards are maintained and other tasks such as site presentation and evening duties.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a customer driven team member who has the desire and ability to work with and motivate children and young people and be an engaging communicator who leads by example. A passion for working outdoors is essential and you will need lots of energy, drive and enthusiasm at all times. 

Confidence living away from home and an understanding of the challenges of living residentially will need to be considered before applying for the role.
