The Story of The Hummingbird Bakery
In 2004, Tarek Malouf MBE opened his first bakery on the bustling market street of London’s famous Portobello Road. It was the first bakery to introduce the authentic flavour of American cupcakes to the UK.
After giving London its taste for Red Velvet Cupcakes, the bakery went on to bake further delights with decadent layer cakes, lightly whipped frostings, rich brownies, golden pies, marshmallow-filled whoopie pies and more. It soon became a celebrity favourite thanks to its fresh onsite baking, real American flavours and handmade decorations all crafted from the finest ingredients possible.
There are seven branches of The Hummingbird Bakery in London and Surrey and an international franchise with several branches and more planned in the Middle East.
Home bakers can try their hand at many of the irresistible recipes sold in-store thanks to the bakery’s four bestselling cookbooks: The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook, Cake Days, Home Sweet Home and Life is Sweet.
