Training & Support

We have designed development programmes that will help develop our future leaders, inspire service delivery with passion, and allow every one of our people to grow with us.

Every year we run a company wide online appraisal tool, Talent ToolboxTM, which allows every employee the opportunity to become recognised as a Rising Star within the group, irrespective of the location or department in which they work. Each employee who is recognised to be a Rising Star, is assigned a development programme most appropriate to their level:

  • VRQ in Team Leadership - 5 month development programme run by The Learning Academy
  • NVQ in Customer Service - 20 week programme run by DeVere Academy
  • NVQ in Housekeeping - 20 week programme run by DeVere Academy
  • Management Development Programme - run in-house

A Personal Development Plan is also designed for each Rising Star by the regional People & Development manager.

All Managers have access to the online Academy which promotes self learning and is a great source of information that is available at any time. In addition, managers who are selected as Rising Stars are invited to participate in a structured development programme encompassing:

  • Motivating your team
  • Leadership styles
  • Planning and delegating
  • Communicating
  • Problem solving/Decision making
  • Giving and receiving feedback
  • Profit and loss

Investing in our people is an investment in our future. It will always be at the heart of what we do.

Malmaison and Hotel du Vin believe in having quality restaurants and kitchens. We believe in the finest locally sourced, ethically produced ingredients. We believe in having fun, but aren't afraid of hard work. But most of all we believe in good, properly trained people.

We believe that you cannot afford to ignore good training, and there is no better place to start, than with the AAA program. We start with all the classic cooking methods and techniques, which are the building blocks of any good chef. From there you can achieve a greater appreciation of the profession and set yourself higher standards to aspire to.

Today's chefs want to be head chefs by the age of 21, but don't know how to make mayonnaise or fillet a fish. Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, will teach you these building blocks and can set ability to the individual, giving you realistic development goals for the entire kitchen, whatever your experience.

This is the future for the next generation of chefs and goes someway to guarantee that a future of well trained quality chefs will continue to run our kitchens!

If you're made of the Raw Stuff, we want to teach you!!
