Maintenance Person – Temporary (8 weeks initially) - HF 20128

Job Description

  • Location: Peveril of the Peak, Thorpe, Dovedale, Derbyshire, DE6 2AW
  • Hours of work: 39 per week over 5 days
  • Contract: 8 Weeks initially, subject to further review, to cover absence
  • Salary: £20,000 - £21,500 p.a.

Job Brief:

To assist the Country House Manager, with the full maintenance of the country house, out buildings and its grounds.

The roles’ responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • On a day to day basis, carry out all day to day maintenance which includes but is not exclusive to plumbing, painting, heating, carpentry and electrics
  • Work with the House Manager to coordinate the work carried out by all maintenance contractors on site
  • Work with the Area Maintenance Manager when required on special projects throughout the house
  • Work with the House Manager to ensure the house is fully compliant on all aspects of Health and Safety
  • Work with the House Gardener or contract gardener to ensure any required maintenance within the garden area is completed (mending fences, external lights, walls etc.)
  • Ensure that all maintenance tools are correctly maintained and that the maintenance workshop is area is clear of rubbish and is always tidy
  • Maintain an accurate record of all utility usage and report any anomalies to the House Manager
  • Ensure all relevant maintenance qualifications are up to date
  • Be prepared to work at heights
  • Support the House Manager on managing maintenance costs around the house and put in place effective cost saving measures where applicable
  • To recommend energy saving ideas and suggestions to the House Manager and Area Maintenance Manager
  • To act as House staff and support the House team when required
  • Provide excellent customer service to all guests in and around the house
  • Be prepared to travel to support projects at other houses or to cover work if required

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Recent plumbing, electrical or trade / site experience or experience in a similar role within a hospitality setting
  • A ‘can do’ attitude and flexible approach
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety at work practices
