Mobile Library Driver/Assistant - Mobile Library - Lincoln

Mobile Library Driver/Assistant - 36 hours per week

Based: Sleaford

Salary: 20,554 pro rata

Lincolnshire Libraries Mobile Service, operated by GLL, is looking for a Mobile Library Driver/Assistant for 36 hours per week, based mainly at Sleaford but covering for holidays/sickness at Lincoln and Manby, when required. This is an exciting time to join our team as we improve and promote the library services for the people of Lincolnshire - whether it's our valued existing users or widening the offering to a new group of customers.

The role is a combination of mobile library driving, working in a public facing position on the vehicle and delivering items directly to housebound individuals and care home/sheltered housing settings and days of office based administration. The service operates 7 Mobile Library vehicles; 1 x 5.5 ton vehicle and 6 vans, delivering the various services to customers throughout Lincolnshire. You will be responsible for driving mobile library vehicles on designated routes while adhering to set timetables.

The service delivery involves single staffing on the Mobile vehicles and working with occasional limited welfare facilities. You will be expected to maintain the vehicle in a roadworthy condition, carrying out daily checks and completing a driver log.

With community at the forefront of everything we do, you'll ensure that every visitor to the Mobile Library is welcomed into a clean, safe and attractive environment that can service their needs. As a key frontline staff member, your passion for libraries and community engagement will be apparent and you'll adapt to and acknowledge the diversity of our visitors and what they aim to get out of their library visit, as well helping them to discover our wide range of resources and services. You'll ideally be a keen library user/from a library background, but it'll be your enthusiasm for helping others and devotion to customer care that makes you really stand out. Naturally good with people, you'll be able to put people of all ages and backgrounds at ease whilst helping to promote our services.

The site based work involves undertaking library stock management and processes. Organised, efficient and thriving on variety, you'll be competent using IT, such as Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook. Experience of using Library Management Systems will be useful but not essential as training will be given. It goes without saying that you'll need excellent numeracy, literacy and communication skills, but you'll also need excellent administration skills, an understanding of health and safety at work and the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.

A valid driving licence with category B entitlement is essential.

In return we offer a range of benefits that you'd expect from the UK's largest Leisure and Cultural Services provider:

Pension schemes

Discounted membership at our leisure centres

Career pathways

Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best
