Duty Manager - Meadway Sports Centre

Duty Manager Based:Meadway Sports Centre, Tilehurst, Reading Variable hours

Building on our continued growth, we're now the UK's largest leisure social enterprise - and set for even greater success. So, if you have the talent and ambition to be a Duty Manager, there's never been a more exciting time to progress with a sector leader. This is more than a Duty Manager role - it's a career.

Ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of a leisure centre, you'll ensure the health, safety and enjoyment of customers and colleagues alike. We're looking for experienced Duty Managers or ambitious and talented Senior Recreation Assistants who are passionate about the leisure industry. So, if you're looking for a desk job, this isn't for you - as there's no such thing as a typical day as Duty Manager. That's what makes the role so special. Here, you could be doing anything from unlocking the leisure centre and setting up, to ordering supplies and checking everything is perfect for your customers. Then, once the day is in full swing, you'll ensure it's all running as it should be - handling customer queries, managing your team and ensuring the successful operation of the gym, pool and other facilities. Your own development is just as important, as we'll train you to sharpen your skills in this diverse Duty Manager role. If you're a fast-thinker who's calm under pressure, responsible and a natural with people from all walks of life, this is your chance to progress as a Duty Manager. We also look for integrity, a can-do attitude, health and safety knowledge, and a customer service focus, combined with relevant professional qualifications such as NPLQ, First Aid, Fitness Instructor and Pool Plant, or equivalent. From introducing a table tennis club and supporting disabled groups, to organising charity swimathons with celebrity guests, we've introduced all sorts of initiatives. So, if you've an idea and the drive to improve things even further, we'll listen.

Better leisure centres are run by GLL, a charitable social enterprise, working with local authorities to run leisure centres, swimming pools, libraries and world-class sporting venues such as the Copper Box Arena and London Aquatics Centre in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. As a not-for-profit organisation, we're different. Passionate about seeing our communities thrive, we invest back into our facilities, projects and people. So, join us as Duty Manager and enjoy career progression and great benefits including flexible hours and locations, a uniform and discounted membership at all 145 leisure centres.

Closing date: 30th June 2022

All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications, age and location. To be shortlisted for the role, internal applicants will need to demonstrate their commitment to GLL by becoming a Society member where eligible.
