Sales & Event Co-ordinator - £24,000 per annum plus benefits - ExCel Exhibition Centre - Compass Group

To co-ordinate enquiries and sales for the location and to actively work as part of sales and events team to increase and enhance the level of sales. Proactively selling the facilities by various techniques and always aiming to meet customer needs and exceed customer expectations.  To operate and maintain the systems for client ordering and all related processing, ensuring the highest standards of accurate and timely customer, staff and management information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing a cohesive sales and operational team by open communications and attending regular team meetings to discuss ideas and share best practices.
  • Promptly respond to all incoming sales enquiries (telephone, fax, letter, e-mail) and obtain bookings wherever possible. Manage the main sales inbox by ensuring all enquiries responded to within 24hrs.
  • Communicate with clients by phone and in writing in respect of arrangements for all functions. Assist with customer show rounds and meetings.
  • Manage the relationship at an appropriate level with the client.
  • Ensure that every customer is given a polite, friendly and personal service, and be able to turn any negative customer experiences into positive ones.
  • Acknowledge and act upon individual customer needs whilst observing the standards and confirm an achievable plan for delivery by liaison with the culinary and operations team.
  • To ensure that timely, accurate and compelling proposals / presentations are made to customers.
  • Cross-sell and refer any potential bookings to other areas of the business if unable to fulfill requirements.
  • Assist the events team with sales enquiries for conferences, events and exhibitions.
  • Support Senior Managers in the effective liaison with the prime clients to ensure the continual development of the partnership.
  • EBMS - Be an administrator and super user for booking system and to assist the departments with any trouble shooting if required.
  • EBMS - Maintain an efficient and detailed database of all clients under the guidance of senior sales manager
  • EBMS – To update the rate cards ensuring the correct information and pricing is uploaded.
