Staff Testimonials:

Chris Morris, Regional Operations Manager

Chris

I have recently been promoted to the Regional Operations Manager position for the Northwest and Yorkshire region.  My new role entails me to ensure that our EDU Recreational Assistants can perform their roles and duties across 15, (soon to be 16 schools) to meet the high-quality expectations set by the organisation.  My responsibilities will be to communicate with all the members of staff any updates about the company’s vision for the future, identify and provide training needs that are required.  Work with staff to resolve any queries that may occur.  To induct and train new Recreational Assistants and appraise current staff through regular spot checking of their performance in their role and responsibilities.  Whilst also providing positive and constructive feedback to help develop certain aspects of the Recreational Assistant role where and when required.

What excites me about my challenge ahead is to utilise my role to help the company continue its growth and to work and communicate with all staff and all departments within EDU lettings.  For the staff across my schools, I want to do everything I can to increase the opportunity to work and earn whilst developing working skills with my employees that they can either take in to their full time careers or even progress like I have through EDU lettings.  The two most rewarding and motivating aspects of my role would be to provide a great working reference for an employee and/or to see them make a positive impact for the Community, schools and the team within EDU Lettings.

As mentioned previously, I was then offered the Regional Operations Manager role a few weeks ago of which I am really enjoying.  I always knew that the Regional Operation Managers, Bookings Team Ops supervisor and the rest of the Head Office did a lot of work behind the scenes, but these last few weeks have really opened my eyes as to how much work, effort and organisation goes in from this end to help and support our Recreational Assistants, Schools and Clients across the nation.  One of the many benefits of working with EDU lettings is the fantastic teamwork, support and people that work for the company, over the few years that I have worked here I formed many great working relationships and friends across the country.  The Company ethos is so refreshing to see, as the company is constantly striving forward work, learn and adapt to benefit the Community, Schools and the employees.

I am proud to call myself an “Edu’er” and be part of this company. I have been with Edu from the beginning, starting as a Recreational Assistant, moving to Recreational Lead. My current position is Operational Supervisor.

My role is diverse and challenging, one shift is never the same. In this role, my primary goal is to support our staff on sites through their shift. This covers an array of situations, from struggling to lock a door, to operational and bookings issues. I oversea and audit site photos to ensure the school is the same, or in even better condition than we took over it. The role is very interactive and integral with all key areas of the business, Sites, Regional Manager, and bookings.

Throughout my journey the company has supported my development in gaining product and operational knowledge, and the skills learned, I have been able to transfer into other areas of my life. I have found Edu to have a flexible approach to shift patterns as I have other commitments.

I would recommend anyone who is interested in either just a part time role or a career to work for Edu Lettings.

Declan Davenport, Recreational Lead

Declan

My progression is going from a recreational assistant to a recreational lead.

What I do is check all the sites I'm at to offer my help if anyone needs it. On the sites, I'm always there for cover, and I check all the paperwork i.e. CSIS sheets, etc, are all filled in correctly before Tom collects them or sometimes I collect them and pass them all at once. Also, I top up the CSIS, accident forms, and the branding business cards, etc.

What I like about the role I do is that I can have a chat and a laugh with clients and colleagues, and I know they are always here to help me out when needed and they always know I'm here if they need any help at all while they are on shift.

What I like about the company is that the supervisors and managers are always there to help when needed, and it is a great atmosphere to work in.

The recreational assistant role is a customer facing role which allows you to improve your confidence and communication skills. I love working as a recreational assistant because it makes me feel responsible, confident and gives me pride, and I have the support of amazing managers and operational supervisors to help me every step of the way. Edu-Lettings has helped build my confidence and communication skills which has allowed me to become more sociable and happier. When I first started at Edu-Lettings I was worried because I've never done a similar role before, however when I started I felt supported by everyone and if I needed help, I just needed to ask.  The recreational assistant role is something different and very flexible which fits around you, so if you're up for the challenge we would love to have you join the Edu-Lettings family!
