Role overview

The Darwin Escapes Head Office team are looking for an IT Apprentice to join them at their offices at Talacre Beach Resort, close to Prestatyn.

This role is for a dedicated and enthusiastic IT Apprentice with a genuine interest in joining a busy IT department, taking on a first-line support role which would be the start of a great career.

The successful candidate will be committed, self motivated and proactive, with great enthusiasm for technology and troubleshooting technical problems. Being adaptable and willing to learn new skills is essential, as are strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to work well with other members of the team.

The role is primarily office based in Talacre, North Wales, but some travel to other sites will be required from time to time using a company vehicle. A full driving licence is highly desirable.

This is a permanent position to work full time, variable hours. This will predominantly be Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm however there may be some requirement for evening or weekend work from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide IT support to company employees, by phone, email and face to face
  • Learn to monitor and prioritise support incidents and enquiries according to business needs
  • Develop the skills to diagnose and resolve software and hardware faults
  • Take a proactive approach to tackling problems and finding solutions
  • Work in an organised, efficient manner and keep accurate records of incident progress
  • Perform basic IT housekeeping and maintain up to date documentation
  • Develop familiarity with a variety of IT systems
  • Learn how to create, maintain and remove user accounts and mailboxes
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and staff
  • Assist with day to day admin tasks that underpin the operation of the IT department

 

What experience you will need

  • A qualification in an IT related subject is an advantage but not essential
  • Experience in configuring Windows operating systems
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office products, spreadsheets or simple databases
  • Working with and fixing problems with: PC's, laptops, mobile phones and tablets
  • Troubleshooting printers and scanners
  • Experience configuring network devices, or an understanding of basic networking
  • Familiarity with PC hardware components and PC construction
