Media Assistant/ Junior Editor - London

Reporting to:  Senior Commercial Producer

Department: Chelsea TV     

Location:   Stamford Bridge, Fulham Road (with occasional travel to Cobham)

Contract Type: Full- Time Permanent

Salary:   Subject to Experience

Job Function: Chelsea Football Club requires a media assistant / Junior Editor to provide day-to-day support to the video production team working across all output.

Overview:  Chelsea TV is the umbrella brand for all video content produced by Chelsea Football Club and is a key contributor to the communications, fan engagement, marketing and commercial media strategies. The in-house content and production department create and publish video across multiple channels           

  • Digital Publisher : Original video content for chelseafc.com and all social media channels
  • Broadcaster : Sky channel 421, multiple international broadcast partners and a live stream via chelseafc.com. Live programming includes over 50 live outside broadcasts, daily live shows and a variety of post-production programming.
  • Internal Production : Branded Content, Commercial Partners, Marketing Campaigns and Activations, Club Events, Foundation, Academy and Player support.   

Role:    This position demands a disciplined mind-set and an ability to manage content (media files) from acquisition through to delivery, to both our broadcast and VOD platforms, working on long and short term content. The candidate will be instrumental in helping the production teams with acquiring and delivering content. An understanding of and passion for video editing is key with future opportunities to develop as an editor. The role will require flexible working hours including weekends.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain our current library of assets across all formats.
  • Procure, ingest, add metadata to, and archive footage.
  • Research & retrieve assets from Media library.
  • Movement of Media content to make efficient use of technical resources.
  • Assistant editing tasks on our Avid system, supporting production staff with video content production.
  • Support the channel Scheduler by ensuring programming media is available for delivery and transmission.
  • Respond to media requests from Online and other business departments.
  • Use of FTP and Media Accelerators to deliver and acquire content to and from various partners.

Person Specification

  • Basic understanding of editing and post-production workflows.
  • Avid/Premiere Video Editing skills.
  • Experience of Media management in a broadcast environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and disciplined approach.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Good Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work well in a team and individually.
  • Good research skills
  • An understanding of working within a media setting.
