Chelsea Ladies’ Teams Physiotherapist ​- Chelsea FC, London

Chelsea Football Club (CFC) is seeking to employ a motivated, organised and ambitious Physiotherapist to join its Medical Department and work with its Ladies Teams. CFC has several ladies teams, including its 1st Team, Reserve team, and Regional Talent Centre Teams which include U10, U12, U14, and U16 squads. With Chelsea’s ever increasing commitment to these squads in both further development and achieving excellence, this new full-time Physiotherapy position has been created to further enhance its existing Medical service. This second “Ladies Teams’ Physiotherapy” role will be one that has a focus on the 1st team and a support role to the other ladies squads (injury clinics, injury assessment, advice and rehab support). This new post will also have direct link with and support from the clubs full medical staff.

Reporting to: Medical Department Head.

Department:  CFC Medical Department.

Job Function: To deliver physiotherapy service to Chelsea Ladies’ Teams.

Main Responsibilities:

To contribute to the medical support of the Chelsea FC Ladies’ Teams: 

To provide a comprehensive football physiotherapy service to the CFC Ladies 1st team.

To conduct and coordinate injury assessment and treatment clinics for CFC Ladies squad members in conjunction with other medical staff members.

To implement and provide advice regarding individual player treatments and rehabilitation programmes as part of the medical team.

To provide physiotherapy cover of Ladies 1st team home and away matches as required.

To contribute to the introduction and implementation of any injury prevention and performance enhancement programs as required.

To contribute to the physiotherapy related aspects of development and implementation of training camps and residential programmes.

Administration Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the organisation and completion of all necessary paperwork associated with the role as requested by Ladies team coaching and admin staff and club medical staff.
  • To be available to attend specialist appointments and investigations with the player as requested by club medical staff.
  • To regularly liaise with and inform coaching staff and club doctors of current injuries and player’s stage of rehabilitation.
  • To ensure the Ladies treatment areas and equipment are adequately maintained.

Measures of Performance:

  • Contribute to the accurate diagnosis and prognosis of injured players and provide written, organised player treatment and rehabilitation programmes.
  • Carry out professional treatment standards on all players as set out by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Core Standards of Physiotherapy Practice (as documented in player’s notes)
  • Effective communications with the Medical Department Members, squad Managers’, Coaches, Players and their families as required.

Person Spec:

Applicants must:

  • be registered with the Health Professions Council.
  • be a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.
  • have more than 2 years post-graduate experience.
  • be motivated and have a dynamic approach to their work.
  • have good communication skills.
  • be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • be comfortable working unsociable and variable hours on a weekly basis.
  • have a drivers licence and own car.
  • be comfortable attending any courses deemed necessary for the role eg:  ATMMiF (Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football) course.

Applicants will preferably:   have previous experience working in Sport.
