REGIONAL Part-Time Development Centre Coach for Chelsea FC Academy - Hampshire

Reporting to: Development Centre Coordinator ​

Working Hours: Monday or Wednesday’s 17.00pm - 19.00pm

Main Responsibilities:

Administration:

  • Invoices should be handed in to the Academy Secretary by no later than the first day of each month to enable payment to be received on time.  If this is not received by this date, you will automatically jeopardise the payment by at least one month.
  • To ensure that registers are completed and accurately maintained in association with the Head Coach on the PMA System.
  • To respect the Academy office as a working office.  Private and confidential documents are located within the office and at individual work stations.  Please only use the office for relevant Academy work.  Noise levels must be kept to a minimum.
  • Ensure a quick response to all deadlines given regarding administration issues.
  • Liaise with Development Centre Co-ordinator regarding retain and release procedure.
  • To ensure that all sessions plans are completed and handed to the Head Coach at the end of each session. Head Coaches to add session plans onto to PMA system each week.

Welfare:

  • Continually remind players and trialists that Chelsea Football Club will not be responsible for valuables (including mobile telephones) and these should be given to parents / guardians.
  • Liaise with players – without favouritism.
  • Liaise with the Head Coach to discuss injured players.
  • For the sake and wellbeing of children under our care, the good name of Chelsea Football Club and your personal position, you must adhere to and promote the Chelsea Football Club Child Protection Policy.

Coaching:

  • Always arrive at least 20 minutes before your session is due to commence to allow preparation time.
  • You are of smart appearance and always wear the correct kit supplied and directed by Chelsea Football Club.
  • Your session plan is prepared and is linked to the Chelsea Football Club Coaching Programme.
  • You have your coaches log book for every session available for internal and external monitoring.
  • You complete a register at the end of each session.
  • You will receive an allocated amount of equipment that you will be responsible for.  This must be maintained to a high standard.
  • You have enough bibs, discs, mannequins and any other equipment available for your session.
  • Footballs are pumped up.
  • You are not allowed to wear last year’s kit, due to change in club sponsor. 
  • You have clean football boots / astro trainers.
  • You refrain from using foul language and sarcasm.
  • You encourage a bubbly, approachable atmosphere and always lead by example.
  • New players are integrated into the group; you know their name and are aware of their strengths and weaknesses.
  • You always finish your session on time.  Please consider the welfare of the player and consider their families.
  • To adhere to the coaching programme and respect the welfare of the player.
  • Maintain a continuous professional development plan as requested by the Football Association / FA Premier League in relation to Academy Football.
  • Enrol as a member of FA Licensed Coaches Club.

Person spec:

  • UEFA ‘B’ licence coach (Head Coach / Coach) – desirable
  • FA Certificate in Coaching Football – Level 2 (Assistant Coach)
  • To be qualified in Emergency aid / First Aid at Work – desirable
  • Knowledge of current methods in coaching
  • Commitment to the Chelsea Football Club coaching philosophy
  • Evidence of the ability to plan coaching sessions
  • Experience of coaching players from the Under 5 to Under 11 age groups.
  • To attend all in-service training arranged by staff on behalf of Chelsea Football Club.
  • Have an awareness of equality and safeguarding issues.

Measures of Performance:

  • Show evidence of required administration duties. 
  • Meet all deadlines given.
  • Adhere to all Chelsea Football Club Academy welfare issues, as set out in the main responsibilities.
  • Ensure you adhere to the agreed Chelsea Football Club Academy coaching programme and achieve objectives that are set out.
  • Evidence of an up to date CPD record.  Show a commitment to improve coaching knowledge through in-service and external training.
