Carrier Coordinator - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire

Reports To: Logistics Manager

Department: Logistics

Role Summary:

At Charles Tyrwhitt our purpose is to "Make it easy for men to dress well". The primary purpose of the Carrier Co-Ordinator is to own the relationship between CT and our outbound and return carriers, direct, store and overseas. To maximise the level of customer service and deliver the best value for money to the business. You will need to maintain a detailed knowledge of the carrier industry and the services available and to identify where these can be used to help improve our service offering. You will process carrier invoices, record data, complete clearance documentation and keep the fulfilment operation up to date with schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

Performance Management

  • Manage and improve delivery performance
  • Manage and improve LIP (lost in post) and WMO (where's my order) contact rates in conjunction with the carriers and customer service team
  • Manage customer returns delivery performance
  • Conduct carrier review meetings
  • Service/KPI monitoring and reporting including compliance with the contract or agreement
  • Responsible for peak planning; carrier schedules, carrier capacity, order cut off times, upgrading services to ensure delivery before Christmas

Cost Management

  • Review and negotiate costs, services and methods of third party service providers and carry out tendering processes to assess alternatives with the aim to provide the best value partners for CT and its customers. Where appropriate, carry out benchmarking tests.
  • Invoice authorisation, reconciliation and administration

Contract Management

  • Delivery of goods to our UK and Paris stores
  • Delivery of goods to our customers worldwide and Return providers

Service

  • Be the focal point for all carrier related operational issues.
  • Actively monitoring all carrier networks to identify the first signs of problems and recommend/take escalate internally to agree actions.
  • Keeping abreast of the carrier market, trends and service offerings through meeting with them and attending industry conferences.

Person Specification:

Experience Required

  • Knowledge of the carrier industry via working in a comparable role
  • Energy, enthusiasm and a passion for all things carrier and parcels
  • Ideally, but not essential, an understanding of an e-commerce and retail store distribution centre operation from order placement to delivery and return

  • Negotiating and influencing skills combined with commercial acumen and flair
  • Able to work on own initiative and leads by example
  • Good administrative capability with an understanding of the importance of it
