Cunard - Japanese Host/ess - Fleet - Ship Based

Carnival UK are currently recruiting for our prestigious Cunard Ships home to the three famous Queen ships; Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria and Queen Mary 2.

As a market leader in the cruise industry, Cunard operates all over the world. With an exciting season in Asia approaching we are looking to recruit a Japanese speaking Medical Host/Hostess to work at sea on a fixed term contract. Sailing around the Japanese coast line you will have the chance to explore exciting destinations and become part of the prestigious White Star Academy that Cunard prides itself on.

As a Medical Host/ess your role is to work closely with the on board Doctors and Nurses in the Medical department. A pivotal role on board, you will be able to provide accurate and reliable information to Japanese guest’s queries such as price enquires, and dealing with complaints in a professional manner. Furthermore you will be required to translate ship information for guests including services offered within the medical centre, prescription services and other information required.

Support to the guests will be within both a clinic setting out of hours on call to support the medical centre when required. In addition to this you will be expected to attend corporate sponsored social events and interact with international passengers as part of regular work duties.

Other responsibilities:

• Health and safety – report all accidents and hazards to management.

• Understand environmental responsibilities e.g. waste segregation

• Emergency duties: to be part of the ships response team in emergency situation by participating in drills furthermore translating and instructing Japanese speaking guests in case of emergency.

• Customer service: adapt quickly and remain calm following passenger complaints or comments and aiming to deescalate and satisfy customers.

• Proactive and positive in all interactions with Officers, crew and passengers.

   

Requirements/ Experience:

• Fluent in Japanese and English languages and experience of translating verbal and written communication

• Ability to translate medical documentation and prescriptions

• Demonstrated experience in a fast paced customer facing role

• Customer service experience

• Excellent administration/IT skills

• High attention to detail
