Facilities Manager - Fleet - Ship Based

Under the direction of the Superintendent for Facilities, you will support the maintenance and project functions for all guest, public and crew areas including back of house functions such as the laundries and galleys. This will include electrical, plumbing, upholstery, horticulture, carpentry and refurbishment. You will be responsible for making sure that maintenance work is carried out in line with all relevant regulations, and that thorough maintenance records are completed, as well as monitor and manage third party contractors and project teams on board.

You will work closely with senior managers on board, including the Hotel General Manager, Ship Services Engineer, and the Facilities Superintendent on shore to create and manage a 12 month ship facilities maintenance plan in line with Carnival UK’s asset management strategy.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Superintendent with the follow up and closure of incidents, audit items, ship management report findings, non-conformance and marine casualty reports related to their areas of Technical expertise in relation to asset failures.
  • Assist senior managers with planning, preparation and project management for initial scope of ship refits and wet docks within their areas of responsibility both technically and budgets.
  • Provide data and support for future strategy planning of facilities within each vessel as part of the integrated planning process

A marine background is not required for this role; however a strong background in Facilities Management is essential, ideally within hotels, attractions, or large modern commercial buildings. People management and communication skills is an integral part of this role, managing working relationships on ship and on shore. You’ll also be highly organised and confident tackling the wide range of interesting challenges that arise on board a luxury vessel. Prior to joining a vessel you will need to complete an STCW basic training course.

If you’re a team player with the drive to develop your career and experience with a world-leading ship’s company that comprises the prestigious P&O Cruises and Cunard Line brands, join us on our journey.
