An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Buyer - Hotel Services has arisen within the Procurement & Supply Chain Department at Carnival UK at our head office in Southampton.
You will work within a team of 10 in hotel sourcing responsible for sourcing key categories of goods to cost effectively meet the needs of the 11 ship carnival UK fleet – annual spend managed by buyers circa £20m covering 8,000 product lines across a diverse supply base.
Where appropriate you will source goods through either global contracts, from European or local markets.
Your role will be to adhere to agreed policies, procedures & processes for the purchase and supply of products ensuring maintenance of good practice principals. You will work closely with purchasing colleagues, locally and globally and key stakeholders in the business to drive out unnecessary costs and streamline the purchasing activity. You will also manage and develop key supplier relationships within the categories under your area of management.
Key accountabilities
Identify and deliver further opportunities to reduce overall supply chain costs conducting regular audits/ benchmarking of purchasing activity.
Identify opportunities where scale allows to move down the supply chain towards the original product source and reduce overall end to end costs.
Regular engagement with brand teams to ensure that sourcing strategies overlay effectively with brand requirements.
Support Category Manager - Hotel in large complex multi brand/multi company tender activity.
Promote good inter departmental relations & contribute to the establishment of a professional & efficient department reputation.
Manage supply relationships with key suppliers through regular fact based supplier reviews against agreed SLA’s.
Work closely with other Carnival operating companies and Carnival Global Source to obtain best economies of scale that benefit Carnival UK and take consideration of the overall benefits to Carnival Corporation and plc.
Prepare, issue and evaluate tenders.
Experience
ESSENTIAL
Previous buying experience and hands on use of purchasing systems
Good academic background
Computer literate and competent in the use of Word & Excel
Experience of undertaking supplier negotiations
Customer focused
Display a knowledge and understanding of dealing with a variety of projects at
one time
Good Communicator that can organize own workload and adhere to tight deadlines
Persistent, persuasive and very task focused
Maintain a smart and professional appearance at all times
Able to relate to all levels of staff
DESIRABLE
Studying towards CIPS qualification
Experience of purchasing within hotel categories
An understanding of contract law and application to supplier agreements
