BH Live are looking for a permanent (37 hrs per week) Venue Supervisor at the Pavilion Theatre in Bournemouth to assist with the provision of the operational activities, including internal/external security of the premises, an efficient and effective customer service based at reception and prepare the premises for the activities of the day

Main Duties & Responsibilities

· To ensure the health, safety and welfare of persons within the venue and provide information to customers and visitors.

· Monitor alarms and equipment associated with fire safety and security and take control of situations arising, including intruders and evacuation of the premises in the absence of a management presence.

· Liaise with managers and staff of other sections to ensure the delivery of an effective service provision at all times. Confidently passing on requirements and directives where necessary.

· To be thoroughly familiar with function sheets and schedules to ensure all areas are prepared for events, particular attention to room layouts and cleanliness and the need to section off areas of the car park for reserved space or the arrival of trucks or equipment.

· Through effective communication skills, deal efficiently and effectively with customers, clients and contractors on varied matters and effectively deal with those persons who may cause a nuisance.

· To be fully knowledgeable concerning BH Live’s relevant health and safety requirements, to assist with risk assessments and have a thorough knowledge of the venues geography/services at all times ensuring the safety of customers and staff within public and operational areas.

· To fully brief, register and escort as necessary, contractors to ensure their safety keeping track of their movement, including checking PPE requirements, Asbestosis Register, relevant Risk Assessments and COSHH.

· To ensure all marketing and advertising material is current and displayed in accordance with agreed schedules or policies.

· To be fully knowledgeable regarding BH Live’s fire and evacuation procedures and to initiate, control and follow through those procedures in the event of fire or other emergency arising. In the absence of a manager, to liaise with the fire service and other agencies.

· To have a basic understanding and competency when operating computers and other technical equipment, e.g. lighting and sound for certain events, after appropriate training has been given.

· To ensure that the facilities within the venues are prepared and available for use as and when required, liaising with and coordinating other internal sections such as cleaning, hospitality, portering etc.

· To provide an effective customer service/information facility from the main reception area

· To operate and monitor the CCTV security, fire alarm and intruder systems, key issuing procedure and other related security/communication equipment and provide a measured and appropriate response to incidents.

· Required to participate in training sessions/seminars/exercises associated with the operation of the BIC/Pavilion and in particular undertake IT training, relevant customer care as and when required.

· Contact withall staff and managers and event organisers, promoters, contractors and customers.

· Flexible requirement for daytime, evening, late night, early morning, weekend and Bank Holiday working, on a regular basis because of the 24 hour/7 day week operation.

· Lone working required including early mornings and late nights.

· Key holder for the venue, responsible for the unlocking and opening of the venue in the mornings and securing and locking up in the evenings.

· Overall responsibility for the security of the premises whilst on shift.

· First point of onsite contact for visiting companies and event organisers, ensuring that all agreed requirements are met.

· Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and commitments.

· Initiate ideas and develop systems to improve operations through consultation with management.

· Think ahead, foresee and predict possible outcomes of situations and put procedures in place to ensure best practice.

· Administer first aid as and when required.

Any other duty as required by your line manager commensurate with the post.

Previous Front of House experience in a similar environment - Essential
