Head of Finance - Basingstoke

£41,111 per annum pro-rata (22.5 hours per week)

Plus workplace pension and free use of facilities

We are seeking a qualified Chartered or Certified Accountant to undertake the role of Head of Finance.  The successful candidate will have a proven successful commercial track record of financial management.  Knowledge and/or experience of the charities sector would be advantageous.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, influencing, problem solving and decision making abilities to support the Chief Executive, Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.  Relationship management is integral to this role.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role reports direct to the Chief Executive and will be responsible for overseeing all financial accounting and reporting activities and ensuring that the company abides by applicable laws and regulations.  The role will be required to influence and contribute to the growth and direction of the business commercially.

You will be responsible for providing accountancy and financial management to include the following; preparation of monthly accounts, cashflow and balance sheet; sales and purchase ledgers; VAT returns; maintaining the asset register; reports on financial performance; reports on other KPIs such as patronage; preparation of annual budgets; annual charities return, and managing the year-end, liaising with our external auditors.

The 22.5 hours per week can be worked over three or four days, Monday to Friday.  You will need a flexible approach to duties and hours, which may include occasional evening work.

BST (Basingstoke Sports Trust), a social enterprise and registered charity, has managed Basingstoke Sports Centre for nearly 50 years.  This boasts an extensive 75,000+ sq. ft. sport and leisure offer at Festival Place.  We also provide a bespoke health and fitness club in Newbury, West Berkshire.  The Trust employs 185 staff across the two sites; annual turnover for 2019/20 is forecast at £3.9million.
